Canadian Budget Binder-The Saturday Weekend Review #2

Saturday Week In Review Mr.CBB

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review

Saturday comes so fast and for some it’s the weekend of fun and pleasure and for others like me it’s a bit of both work and pleasure.  With Hurricane Sandy in the midst we brace for a wet weekend and upcoming week. Canadian Hurricane Centre says we won’t see the worst of  Sandy until next week when it hits us in Ontario. Lots of rain already, and it still keeps on coming.

This past week I was back in the yard hopefully for the last clean up of the year. You know when you get your lawn looking just right, no leaves then a gale of wind comes and dumps another load. Well, that’s how my lawn looked a couple of days after all the work I did the previous week. Meh, I’m never going to get through my to-do list but at least I’m doing it.

The Welfare Food Challenge is over but The Grocery Game Challenge I hold each Tuesday is still on. We continue to eat some amazing food here in the CBB home that doesn’t cost alot out-of-pocket like ginger lemon mushroom chow mein noodles topped with lemon pepper fish. Keep checking in each Sunday as I post the next frugal recipe that I create.

Today I’m trying my hand at witches fingers for Halloween. Mrs. CBB has made them for years now and I’ve helped her the past 3 years. This year it is my turn to make them for the friends and family that will pop around for a scary night of fun on Wednesday for some trick or treating, scary movies and good food. No it’s not a party.. we don’t dress up but we like to make a fun night out of Halloween. I will post the recipe and pictures tomorrow!

Mr. CBB
I’m from the UK and now a recent permanent resident in Canada. I bought my first house at the age of 21 after University then my second at the age of 24. I’ve always been fascinated with personal finance, savings, learning to make money and watch it grow while combating debts along the way. Canadian Budget Binder is a place where I get to share my experiences with personal finance and learn about yours along the way. I hope you stick around and check me out on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest where I am active on all social media sites. Cheers, Mr.CBB

Stay safe, I don’t live in Canada. So, this is the first I’m hearing about the hurricane but, I hope everyone stays safe.

Good news, I’ve convinced my husband to join the grocery challenge. We’ll be starting this upcoming Saturday. The goal is $50.00 a week for our family of four. Its a hefty goal but I’m sure we’ll make it. Thanks for the love and shout outs by the way!

    • Wow, that is a hefty goal and I can’t wait to see what you can do with it!! YA! I post the Grocery Game Challenge every Tuesday of the month but you can start any time. This coming Tuesday will be the first shop for November but simply post as per your weekly shopping schedule. Cheers Jackie and I look forward to your shops!! Mr.CBB

  2. Mary F Campbell says:

I’ll be looking forward to your Grocery Posts too Jackie…that’s my grocery allowance for 2 of us but that includes cleaning products and personal care items. You go girl!

  3. Thanks for the link, Mr. CBB – and I will definitely have to remember that old men taste like pumpkins. That’s knowledge that should be stored for future reference =)

  5. Congrats on your blog growth. Couldn’t happen to a better person. Love the camel muffin search. Stay dry!

    • Thanks.. it’s getting there slowly, now just have to get me self hosted. I find some Bloggers just ignore me because I’m not in the “self hosted Club” but that’s ok.. I’m part of the what comes around goes around club haha.. Cheers Kim.. enjoy your weekend.
