The Saturday Weekend Review #6 November

Saturday Week In Review Mr.CBB

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review

So the snow touched down in Ontario yesterday and boy and I smiling from ear to ear. I was more than happy that the Christmas lights went up when it was nice and toasty out. Not alot happened on the home front this week besides the usual work and cleaning up the garage. I’ve managed to get everything off the ground (tire racks are great) so we can park both of the vehicles inside for the winter as intended. I could never understand why some people pack their garage floor to ceiling instead of wanting the ease of getting in and out of their vehicle during the winter months. I have no problems sipping on my coffee and waving to neighbours as I drive past as they are giving their wind-shield death with the ice scraper.  Scenario: Mr.CBB opens window, waves, “have a nice day Mrs.Jones” while enjoying his hot beverage, driving away in his toasty vehicle.  Do you park your vehicles in your garage if you have one?

Cineplex Theatre Mag - Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2

Finally as promised I told you Mrs.CBB and I were going on a “date” to see the final movie in the Twilight Series Breaking Dawn 2 on Monday. Yes I did endure the entire movie and there were plenty of men to ease the pain. I must admit they picked a lovely young actress, Mackenzie Foy to play Renesmee Cullen who fit the role nicely.  OK, it wasn’t so bad since I had seen all the movies with the Mrs. It seemed to be a triumphant ending yet sad time for the fans. A standing ovation and clapping by most really hit home how much this series affected the viewers. Not to mention the bank accounts of all those involved including leading actors Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and the writer Stephenie Meyer.  But it ain’t over until the fat lady sings they say. Meyer would only comment that “there’s a chance I’ll go back to their story” on whether Jacob could father a child with Renesmee. Who wouldn’t if they already knew it would be worth millions. Long live the Vampires! Oh and yes Mrs.CBB picked up the Cineplex Theatre Magazine to read more about Robert’s feeling on the ending of the series. Wiping tears.. **

What’s Been Happening at Canadian Budget Binder

I’ve been all over the place with the blog this week as I’m heading towards a new design as I might have mentioned earlier. I’m not sure when the unveil will happen but asking my Facebook fans about what they would like to see with Canadian Budget Binder has been fun. I’d like to take this opportunity to ask my blog fans and any others who read CBB to share your comments on what you would like to see here. I think a site that is designed with ease of use and enjoyment for the fans and the owner benefits both parties.

We’ve had some great guest posters over the past few weeks and more to come. I’ve also written some guest posts which will be going live soon on other amazing blogs. I enjoy having others share their expertise and experiences with my fans so if you are someone who owns a blog and wants to guest post get in touch with me today.

Mr CBB…is there any chance you might switch the colors. The black, grey and dark grey are very stark, a little hard on the eyes and not very indicative of how very fun budgeting and get ahead financially can be?? Just my opinion but if it’s a huge challenge, never mind. :-D

    • Yes the entire theme will get an overhaul as well as color. Just trying to stay away from the Hot pink and Canary Yellows though lol… Thanks for your input as always Mary. If you see any other features on sites you may like here let me know. Cheers. Mr.CBB

  2. Thank you for your support for my blog in the Best Real Estate Investment Blog Contest.

And, thank you for the mention.

Your comment about parking your cars in the garage to keep them toasty and ice free at night reminded me of when I lived in Colorado.

We didn’t have a garage so I spent many mornings, before leaving for high school, starting the car early so the heater would begin to defrost the windows before I hit them with the ice scraper.

It can be hot here in Arizona in the summer, where I live now,but I can honestly say that I don’t miss those Colorado winters.

  3. As always, thanks so much :) Have a great weekend!

  4. Christine Weadick says:

Glad to hear you enjoyed the movie with the Mrs!!! Our garage is detached but it isn’t big enough for the truck to fit in so it gets used for storage and such. One thing….. if you are starting the vehicles in the garage….. please be very careful of carbon monoxide in the garage and getting into the house!!!!!! I read an article on the CMHC site about this very thing and it is very possible!!! Even with the garage doors open the carbon monoxide can sneak into the house through the tiniest of holes between the house and garage. The article spelled this out and gave hints on how you can seal these openings as much as possible and how to ovoid the problem…. Please do read this as it has some very good advice and we don’t want anything bad to happen to you and yours……

  5. I love that you get such random search topics.

Mine are always really boring :(

Here is a few from today’s searches. –
    – saving money all the time
    – do you spend money or save
    – easy money saving tips
    – motivation for paying off debt

Perhaps I will have to write a bit differently.

    • Oh you ain’t seen nothing yet, I get hundreds of searches and sometimes I just shake my head at some of them lol… They can get funny but at times sad.. I remember Christmas Dinner for 1 really hit home.

  6. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people fill their garage up with stuff and can’t fit in the car. Get rid of some stuff! I am excited to see your new design. I have a hard time getting a vision for things like that, but as long as you keep the grocery game, it’s all good.

    • Same here, just get rid of the junk I say. If you don’t use it someone else might. Life is so much better with less. Yes the Grocery Game will stay as it’s growing slowly but I hope in 2013 we can get new posters. So far all of you have realized the importance of it and so have we. Heck we were spending WAY TOO MUCH even with coupons and next year will be SO MUCH BETTER!! If you have any ideas or ways to make the game better or easier please let me know. Your feedback will help me out. Cheers Kim. MR.CBB

  7. “Yes I did endure the entire movie and there were plenty of men to ease the pain.”

You’re a better man than I am…I don’t know if I could make it through a movie like that!

Thanks for the mention, have a great weekend and enjoy the big (Canadian) football game today.

  8. I think I will wait for that to come out on DVD! I’m excited to see what your new site will look like. One suggestion I have is to limit some of the lists you have on your posts. I get link love type stuff once a week, but sometimes it’s hard to scroll through everything to get to the comments. It sort of clogs up the post (like the ask mr cbb a question/if you’re new, start here). Maybe have that as a separate tab? I like posts I read to be cleaner. Maybe it’s the video editor in me…I like to cut things. LOL! Just a thought!

    • Hey.. yes I agree and that’s why the move will be good as I can clean up. There are not many options here so I look forward to see what I can do. I can make it a sticky but I think it’s part of the overall marketing of social media and it’s important to have. The traffic from social media especially FB is A+ Cheers and thanks for your input, much appreciated. Mr.CBB

  9. Thanks for the mention Mr. CBB. I appreciate it. I don’t know if I would be able to endure twilight. I tried to watch the first film with the Mrs., but I just couldn’t do it.

  10. Anne @ Unique Gifter says:

I have also never understood the compulsion to fill garages with everything but vehicles. My spouse grew up without one and with winter and still doesn’t get it! I love my heated parkade :-) My parents have always been very adamant that garages are for both parking and storage.
Winter came to stay this week, for us as well.

    • Ha! I store stuff in the garage as well but I want to make sure both vehicles can be parked inside as intended. It’s a garage not a storage box. I’ve moved lots to the walls and next summer I will build shelving over the garage door.
