If you are a HUGE fan of Mars Bars like my entire family is than this easy Easter treat recipe will be a hit.
Growing up my husband and I can distinctively remember our moms making this recipe for us every Easter.
Now that we have our own kids I keep the tradition going making these classic treats that bring back childhood memories for us along with an Easter Egg Hunt.
Mars isn’t just all about chocolate either.

In Canada when you make Rice Krispie squares you add marshmallows but in Scotland we used chocolate. If my mum made these for a really big treat or birthday party she would add loads of Mars Bars to the mixture.
Easter recipe for kids
I’ve made them many times for our kids and they ask for this recipe every year now.
Along with making Easter treats we also create Easter crafts (Blowing out Eggs, decorating then varnishing them) together as a family. I love involving the kids so one day they do the same for their own.
This Easter treat recipe has only four ingredients all of which may be a pantry staple except maybe the chocolate bars. (If I stocked them in my pantry they would be gone every week.)
If you have a leftover chocolate Easter bunny you could use that chocolate as well to make this recipe. I like to chop them up into bits or freeze them whole so when the time comes I want to use it I just let it come to room temperature and chop.
For this Easter recipe you will need:
- Mars Bars
- Chocolate Chips
- Rice Krispies
- Butter or margarine.
- Optional: Coconut for a nest
This is a very pretty Easter presentation with only a few ingredients and you can jazz it up by adding a plush Easter Bunny to the treat table. (see picture above) I buy my Mars bars at the dollar store since I can get four bars for $1. If you have a Dollar store close to you think about getting your chocolate bars there rather than the grocery store or corner shop.
Today I am going to press my Mars Bar Rice Krispies into muffin tins, let cool and then make into baskets for Easter treats. I will be layering the inside with toasted coconut but you don’t have to. I’ve just done this to create a nest but not everyone likes coconut. It will be just as delicious without the coconut.
How to make Mars Bars Rice Krispies Easter Treats
- 8 Mars bars
- ½ cup choc chips
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 3 cups Rice Krispies
- Cut up the Mars Bars and place in a glass bowl
- Place in microwave for 2-3 mins until it starts melting
- Once on and the Mars Bars have started to melt add the butter and mix well. Then add the chocolate chips.
- When everything has melted stir well until all combined.
- In another bowl place in the Rice Krispies then pour the melted Mars Bars over the top and gently mix together.
- Now you place them in muffin tin cases or line a pan with parchment paper and mold into rectangle shapes and place in the fridge to cool.
- Top your Mars Bars Rice Krispies Easter Treats Basket with some Chocolate eggs.
- Note: The cooling time is not factored into the COOK TIME. So in total it will take you 50 mins start to finish.
