What’s Been Happening at Canadian Budget Binder OK, I must have a bit of a chuckle after learning about the Facebook $1 Fee that they will be testing out when someone sends a message to strangers. I posted this on Facebook last night and many fans came to say they would never pay to use Facebook. I agree, neither will I. Personally it doesn’t really affect me as I don’t contact random people.  I don’t know where they will take this but it seems some groups might be affected from what I’m told. Couponing sites and buy and sell Facebook pages rely on the messaging back and forth to […]

The Saturday Weekend Review #9 December ~ Pray For Change!

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review Even though it’s Saturday morning and I’m likely enjoying my morning café au lait it certainly doesn’t feel like winter to me. I know, I know be careful what you wish for because good old man winter will dump on you before you can say the word SNOW. I’m not holding out for much for the next few days but they are calling for it but we will have to wait and see. Not a lot been happening in my life except for baking my coconut, snowball and peanut butter balls and Christmas Shopping. We’ve met up with some of our mates to have a drink or two and some munchies before Christmas with the family. I always love how Christmas brings so many families together. Connecticut School Shooting – Light a Candle For Change We’ve been devastated since hearing of the massacre at the  Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Connecticut USA School. We need to take some serious immediate action with gun laws all around the world. How many people need to die before it registers, “this is not right”? There is NO reason this should be happening. If you own guns legally, “lock them up”. Let’s keep […]

The Saturday Weekend Review #8 December

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review It’s Saturday and that means working late and sleeping in for me. The best part of waking up this morning was that last night I made Walnut and White Cheddar Biscuits a recipe from my mate Aunt B and they turned out amazing. The goal was to use them with my homemade Pulled Pork that I put in the crockpot this morning. Yep, the house smells.. well. porky!  I couldn’t take it any longer so I had to test a biscuit when I woke up this afternoon so I fried a couple eggs with a huge slice of ham and this is what it looked like….. So keep an eye out in the upcoming weeks for my homemade pulled pork recipe on the blog tucked in between the cushions of this lovely biscuit! Ok now that we have the food out-of-the-way this week I did alot of Christmas baking as you know…. I also went down to the Ministry of Transportation to pick up a $15 temporary sticker for our winter vehicle. On the way there some donut decides to run a red light and do a right hand turn as I’m going 80 up […]

The Saturday Weekend Review #7 December

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review I didn’t get myself into any trouble this week although I haven’t made my way in to the kitchen for my Christmas Baking Marathon yet. The fun will all start today when we start baking 1 of 4 easy Christmas cookie recipes and I will share them every Sunday on the Blog in December. I suppose since the snow has decided to make its way to Ontario it’s time to swap vehicles. This always takes a day or so for me to sort out with insurance, e-test and getting a new sticker. Money, Money, Money everyone wants money. Pain in the ass if you ask me but hey I’m just a newbie! Time to put away my love machine for another season and take out the winter tank destroyer. Do you store your vehicle for the winter and bring out a winter beater? What’s Been Happening at Canadian Budget Binder Well, what hasn’t been happening. I’ve been guest posting all over the shop so if you start seeing posts I wrote for some awesome blogs go ahead and give them a read. It’s not often I write so many in one month but November took me […]

The Saturday Weekend Review #6 November

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review So the snow touched down in Ontario yesterday and boy and I smiling from ear to ear. I was more than happy that the Christmas lights went up when it was nice and toasty out. Not alot happened on the home front this week besides the usual work and cleaning up the garage. I’ve managed to get everything off the ground (tire racks are great) so we can park both of the vehicles inside for the winter as intended. I could never understand why some people pack their garage floor to ceiling instead of wanting the ease of getting in and out of their vehicle during the winter months. I have no problems sipping on my coffee and waving to neighbours as I drive past as they are giving their wind-shield death with the ice scraper.  Scenario: Mr.CBB opens window, waves, “have a nice day Mrs.Jones” while enjoying his hot beverage, driving away in his toasty vehicle.  Do you park your vehicles in your garage if you have one? Finally as promised I told you Mrs.CBB and I were going on a “date” to see the final movie in the Twilight Series Breaking Dawn 2 on Monday. Yes […]

Canadian Budget Binder-The Saturday Weekend Review #5 November

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review It’s been a lovely few days holiday for me so this Saturday Weekend Review will only tell you that I finished sealing the columns on the porch so another job, jobbed. Other than that I hung out with the Mrs. and managed to convince her that Monday was the best day to go to Twilight Breaking Dawn. I’ve already heard opening night in our city was a mad house. So if you find I am MIA come Monday evening you know where I am. If you read my Blog Post Picks yesterday you would have read about our trip to IKEA a few days back. Although last week I was telling you I was tearing up the bathroom for a remodel we decided there was nothing at IKEA that suits our style. We did however pick out our kitchen and it will look something like this IKEA Kitchen picture which I found at model kitchen pictures. Our kitchen won’t be identical in layout and accessories and there is more to the kitchen off to the back as well, pull out cabinets, built-in microwave.  We will put in a pot filler behind the stove. We don’t need the double ovens although Mrs. CBB says […]

Canadian Budget Binder- The Saturday Weekend Review #4 November

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review It’s Saturday already and let’s just say this guy has been tearing it up in the bathroom all week. No, I don’t mean I’ve been taking big dumps, or riding the wave, I mean I’ve smashed walls and made some noise! I’m in the process of renovating our sad-looking 90’s bathroom and reviving it with something “spa-like” , well at least that was the order from the Mrs. I’ve been on vacation for a couple of days now so I’ve been getting what I need to done around here. I also needed to seal the columns on the front porch.  I wanted to control any potential rotting of the wood so I’ve jazzed it up with moulding and will seal and paint it. What’s Been Happening at Canadian Budget Binder Not much to report although I’m sure I’ll have some “Big” news in the upcoming months, so hang on tight! I’m still hoping to hit the 3000 Facebook Fan mark by the end of year but we will see what happens. I have a 3000 Fan Sweepstakes posted here and on my Facebook page. The contest is sponsored by yours truly at Canadian Budget Binder and Karen […]

Canadian Budget Binder-The Saturday Weekend Review #3 November 2012

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review Well, Halloween has come and gone but I did promise that I would post a picture of the pumpkin I carved. Please don’t mind the obvious blurry picture as clearly I would have gotten out my tripod. Mrs.CBB said, “nah, it will be OK”. So this is her version of “OK” in the following pictures (after a few drinks). I also scooped out the pumpkin seeds like others said they do. I know it sounds strange but it’s only my third pumpkin that I’ve carved. I cleaned the seeds, added some sesame oil, salt, pepper, paprika and steak seasoning lol.. (gosh I hope that’s not odd). Then I roasted them in the oven 2 days after Halloween so I could let them dry out a bit. That’s not entirely true. The tray was taking too much room up on the counter so we tossed it in the oven. Well 2 days later Mrs.CBB says, “Babe, I think we forgot to roast the pumpkin seeds”. They don’t look so appetizing in the picture but I’m currently munching on them as I type this and they aren’t so bad, if you like cardboard. A nice cold beer to […]
