7 Reasons People Think You’re Flat Broke When You’re Not : The Saturday Weekend Review #190

DON’T GO FLAT BROKE TRYING TO LOOK RICH WHEN YOU’RE NOT.   You’re not looking for sympathy or hand-outs when people think you’re flat broke when you’re not. It’s their perception and not your influence that guides their belief and how they choose to act around you in regards to financial status. This isn’t a bad thing if you don’t want people to know about your oversized bank account and investment portfolio. One thing we don’t typically do is talk about our finances with family, friends, employer, co-workers or strangers. They don’t need to know how much money we earn, where we’re spending it and how much we’ve managed to accumulate in the bank. Have you ever heard of people who become rich because someone in the family passes away and leaves them part of a fortune in their Will which no one knew about? It happens because not everyone shares their success with the world and not everyone values money the same either. Then there are hopeful people who think they are going to become rich because Grandma Suzie was loaded only to find out she was skint and left them a family heirloom instead of money.   Money […]

10 Food Staples To Buy When You’re Broke : The Grocery Game Challenge 2016 #3 Aug 15-21

BUILD YOUR PANTRY LIKE YOU WOULD YOUR WARDROBE   Instead of saying, “I am broke” look at what you can do to change that and create an action plan. It may sound like boring financial advice but I can tell you that if you have no interest in making changes you will always have a negative mindset. Guess what? No one cares. That’s right although people may feel sorry for you and some people will help you out they are likely fighting their own battles, have fought them or just don’t want to deal with someone else’s problems. Where does that leave you? At the mercy of yourself because you CAN make changes if you want to. You CAN get out of debt if you want to. You CAN live the life you dream of BUT not if you’re going to sit there and complain about why it isn’t happening, why it won’t happen, why it can’t happen and you continue to make excuses for yourself. Forget about everyone else and focus on YOU!   The Broke Pantry   Most people I run into want to know either how to start saving money or how to survive when they are […]

Book Review: How To Be Richer,Smarter And Better Looking Than Your Parents

“But I’m already richer than my parents, and I’ve always been smarter and better looking!” All of us like to think that of course, but regardless of whether or not it’s true for you, Zac Bissonnette’s best-seller is a must read. “How to be Richer, Smarter, and Better Looking Than Your Parents” is a book that focuses mostly on personal finance topics, especially frugality and wise money management. The book starts out with some rather hilarious mockery of celebrities who have gone broke, and shows the logical reasons why. No matter how much money you make, if you spend it all, you’ll be gaining nothing. These celebrities made millions, and then blew it all with regular $25,000 shopping trips. Bissonnette then goes into how the mistakes of the rich and famous can be avoided (albeit on a smaller scale money wise) in your own life. The golden rule of personal finance, spend less than you earn, is at the heart of his philosophies. For those of us who grew up in frugal households, this seems like common sense. But to others who didn’t, it can be a big shock to the system. But the rewards are incredible if you apply his advice. His chapter […]
