Ditch These 6 Genius Grocery Sale Price Distractions : The Grocery Game Challenge 2017 #1 July 31-Aug 6

SALE PRICE DISTRACTIONS BECOME A PROBLEM WHEN THEY DON’T HAVE A PLACE ON YOUR GROCERY SHOPPING LIST.   Sale price distractions are everywhere, not just the grocery store. You only have to think back to holiday shopping and understand the power of sales and marketing. It’s easy to say yes even when you want to say no. Every once in a while I get an email from a reader who is struggling with their grocery budget. What I always find interesting is that most of the concerns are typical to most shoppers. They are not new concerns, they are just new to them and can become a burden on their monthly budget. Let’s read what CBB fan Sophie has to say about her grocery shopping dilemma and offer her some tips to get her back on track.   Super Sale Prices Equal More Money   Dear Mr.CBB, I am a single woman in her 30’s who struggles to keep her grocery budget balanced. Why Free Food Offers Are Attractive Temptations For Shoppers : The Grocery Game Challenge 2016 #4 June 20-26

FREE GROCERIES ARE HARD TO PASS UP ESPECIALLY WHEN FOOD PRICES ARE FORCING CANADIANS TO TIGHTEN THE GROCERY BUDGET   Free food offers may seem like a decoy for the unsuspecting shopper but they can save you some cash if you know how to approach these freebies the right way. Go shopping just about anywhere and you will be bombarded with the word “Free” whether it be the grocery store, the mall or your local farmers markets. Perhaps my radar was on looking for freebies but in essence it’s a marketing mind game that the manufacturers play with shoppers. A while back I blogged about how certain smells are released into the air to grab the customer’s attention. It works alright as I was hankering for a large double-double coffee while shopping at Staples only to be told by an employee it was a […]

The Grocery Game Challenge-Oct 30-Nov 4,2012 Halloween and Rain!

One day until Halloween and today is the start of the November month for The Grocery Game Challenge. Rain, rain go away and take Hurricane Sandy with you so the kiddies can trick or treat! I know some cities are talking about re-scheduling Halloween due to the weather conditions. If you are stuck indoors you could always make a quick batch of some Halloween treats I made on the weekend, Mr.CBB’s Scary Witch Finger Cookies. I have a hard time saying no to these buttery cookies. With the last two months of the year approaching we are looking back and reflecting on our grocery budget of $190 since we started this game in February. We had some blips along the way and will share our goals for 2013 some time in December. This week we didn’t have too much to purchase but we spent more than we should have, oops. Sometimes those in-store deals can get ya and we are just like everyone else having to make the split decision of yes or no. How will this decision effect our grocery budget for the month? We are not over for the month but we will have to concentrate on sticking to […]
