Why your Facebook feed is flooded with a lucrative gift card offer

FREE DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN FREE   I know many of you who are on Facebook may have noticed a spike in Facebook fans sharing posts about how they managed to grab a $500 Costco gift card by sharing. Sounds lucrative and typically these types of advertising schemes on social media are too good to be true. Pop-ups suck! Why? Many are just hoops, read on!   What is the easiest way to make money? Work for it! Yup, I know it’s hard to swallow but that’s life. If you were one the many people who thought that internet money was going to fall into your lap with 5 easy group shares you’re not alone. I can’t even begin to tell you how my Facebook feed was flooded with Facebook fans who were sharing a giveaway not sponsored by Facebook or Costco in any group they could find. Ads on Facebook plague social media users on a daily basis and many people have thrown in the towel moving on to other platforms because they simply can’t handle how Facebook has become such a showcase for money grabs. Then again what comes free such as the Facebook platform means that the company […]

Competitive eater and Mum of four devours two 72-ounce steak dinners in 15 minutes: PF Friday grab a brew #74

FREE MEAL IF YOU CAN EAT THIS!   You thought you had a big grocery budget imagine how much it costs to feed competitive eater from Nebraska Molly Schuyler’s family every month. I’d be interested to hear how much Molly spends for the family grocery budget but I’m pretty sure it’s not as bad as we are all assuming. Although in order to master the art of competitive eating I’d presume you’d have to buy lots of food and practice the sport of speed eating at home. I bet if you were to go on a date with an eater like Molly you better take her to an all-you can-eat-buffet otherwise you might see one heck of a food bill coming your way. They all say that we are bound to be good at something in our life and for Molly, that’s eating. All joking aside this super-eating mum of four children is a competitive eater and she doesn’t let anything get in the way of shattering food eating records. My jaw dropped just watching her You Tube videos of her competitive eating ventures   Competitive eating   You don’t hear much about competitive eating in Canada unless I’m missing […]

The Saturday Weekend Review #29: Welcome 6000 Facebook fans, figs and a Contest

When I started my Facebook page in early February, 2012 I remember getting excited to have a few followers come on board. As the months crept on I found my Facebook page growing not only with the Facebook marketing, blog marketing and other social media and contests I was doing but from the fans and other bloggers that I follow. Over the past year and a half I have met some amazing people and those fans are still with me and take pride in Canadian Budget Binder, helping me to build our community day after day. Nothing makes me happier than to see my team of fans champion our page to grow by participating and sharing every day. They take control and they help each other out, they welcome new fans in and it’s overwhelming for me at times. I wish they could see the tear in my eye just to know I’ve made such an impact in their lives with this blog and page. Just as I have for them, they have affected my life. I want to take a moment to thank all of you. Each one of you know who you are because I talk to you […]

Saturday Weekend Review #11- What’s Happening Mr.CBB?

What’s Happening At The CBB House? I’ve worked like a mad man trying to get things done around the house this past week and as you all know multitasking is not what I’m good at and neither is Mrs.CBB. Besides my career, the blog and hanging with the wife and friends I’ve set aside time to work on plans to get some renovations done around the house which are long overdue. Our plans so far include new updated bathrooms a new kitchen and some simple landscaping. Making sure we  keep in line with what comparable homes have sold for to get the best return for our renovations. The last thing I want to do is over-renovate and lose money. The catch is we now have to save the cash to do these renovations  since our savings account will be depleted shortly. We knew we would be using up our cash to pay off the mortgage and are in no huge rush to renovate. That only means our plans will be stretched out over the course of the year and into next year. We planted the garden as you would have read the past two weeks and I’ll be starting my flower […]

The Grocery Game Challenge April 2- April 8 Happy Easter!

Since Easter is just around the corner I thought it be proper to highlight this special occasion for most families around the world.  I’m sure this weeks shop will include Ham, Potatoes, apples, stuffing, vegetables, gravy and dessert (brownies will be our number one chocolate pick of course) ha! One of my favourite recipes is what I call our Easter Dinner In The Crockpot which was sent by Shelley C. a Facebook Fan.  I ran with her  potato and ham idea and  made it my own jazzing it up with various spices and variations so that we could use it for Easter or any night of the week. It was a hit so try out my version and see what you think! Thanks Shelley! We love getting recipes at Canadian Budget Binder so simply email me your recipe along with your name and if I use it on my blog I will make sure you get the credit you deserve! Although we will be heading to the relatives for dinner this year we still made it to the shops to pick up some quick items.  When I finished our March Budget update and actually saw our $200 overspend on groceries it really […]
