Magical Budget Jars Change This Couples Life Forever

EVERYTHING BECOMES MAGICAL WHEN YOU BELIEVE- EVEN YOUR FINANCES   Every so often I get an email from a CBB fan which sparks a conversation which then turns into sharing their budget journey on Canadian Budget Binder. I absolutely love sharing fan stories because they are real and all of us can relate to them in one form or another. In today’s blog post you’ll learn how one couple goes from two incomes to one and managed to turn some glass jars into magical budget jars. If you don’t take your finances seriously someone else will but that someone else won’t be on your side. Each of these budget stories inspire others including myself to continue to believe in the power of positivity and not giving up when the going gets tough. There is a financial solution out there for everyone whether they choose to believe it or not. It may not what you want it to be but in the end it’s likely for the best.   SEEMINGLY EMPTY TO MAGICAL JARS   Hello Mr. CBB, Here is our budget story …. When my husband and I met we were both struggling from breakups leaving us with less money […]

A Wage Increase Is Only Instant Gratification On Paper : Our Net Worth Update October 2017 (+0.79%)

BUILDING WEALTH AND DEBT FREEDOM GOES BEYOND A WAGE INCREASE   Unless you get a wage increase that is far beyond your norm the only gratification most people get is seeing the bigger number on their pay cheque. Even then if you’re not putting that wage increase to work you’re hiring and firing your own staff costing your more money in the long run. Reality is that without doing something with that money to help increase your net worth it won’t make a blind bit of difference. This perspective of a wage increase simply leaves you right back where you started. November is financial literacy month and I wanted to take a few minutes to talk about why a wage or salary increase isn’t always the answer to our financial problems.   You have to start somewhere   ** Let that be your motivation for the day, month, year ** You may not be in debt but you’re certainly not going to get ahead financially if you aren’t making changes to the way you manage it. The key: Financial Literacy. If you’re in the negative you may still be in the negative but climbing out from the hole. You’re still […]

Achieve Financial Success By Leaving Money Sins Behind : The Saturday Weekend Review #208

THE EASIEST WAY TO CLIMB UP IS TO START CLIMBING WITHOUT FEAR.   Are you a good person who fell off the financial train but want to finish what you started before being side-tracked? No one sets out wanting to create debt that could carry them into retirement if not paid back in a timely fashion. Many retire today with debt because they simply couldn’t keep up with expenses vs. income or they were spending too much money and didn’t adjust their lifestyle accordingly. It’s far easier to create the life that we want even if that means with money we don’t have rather than putting the wheels into motion so it becomes reality. Related: A Beginners Guide To Early Retirement I bumped into our neighbour the other day and I asked her how she was doing and if her daughter was still living with her. She smirked a bit and said yes she is still living with her but planning to move into an apartment by the end of May. That’s great news to which she replied, “She’s come a long way and now that her financial situation has improved.” I’m known as the go-to guy when someone has […]

grocery game monthly challenge

10 Food Staples To Buy When You’re Broke : The Grocery Game Challenge 2016 #3 Aug 15-21

BUILD YOUR PANTRY LIKE YOU WOULD YOUR WARDROBE   Instead of saying, “I am broke” look at what you can do to change that and create an action plan. It may sound like boring financial advice but I can tell you that if you have no interest in making changes you will always have a negative mindset. Guess what? No one cares. That’s right although people may feel sorry for you and some people will help you out they are likely fighting their own battles, have fought them or just don’t want to deal with someone else’s problems. Where does that leave you? At the mercy of yourself because you CAN make changes if you want to. You CAN get out of debt if you want to. You CAN live the life you dream of BUT not if you’re going to sit there and complain about why it isn’t happening, why it won’t happen, why it can’t happen and you continue to make excuses for yourself. Forget about everyone else and focus on YOU!   The Broke Pantry   Most people I run into want to know either how to start saving money or how to survive when they are […]

Get Up And Chase Dollars With A Game Of No Debt Go : Our July 2016 Budget Report

TURN YOUR FINANCES INTO A CHALLENGE CHASING WEALTH   If seekers of living the dream would treat their budget and put as much effort into their finances as Pokemon Go players do we’d all be on our way to the bank with a bag full of cash. Do you ever feel that you caged up and running around in circles in your mind because you just can’t get out of debt and financial success seems out of reach? You’re not alone but what one wants one must work at to achieve. It’s amazing how we can take something so simple as a virtual game to get the world off the couch. If we could apply the same determination that I see so many players have roaming around outside to personal improvement we’d all be rich. I’d rather chase my financial dreams and put my effort into fun ways that we can build wealth so we CAN do things we dream of. If you are someone who tends to set low expectations for yourself because you don’t believe you will amount to anything more than you are, give your head a shake. You are worth it. Mindfulness Will Free You From […]

3 Budget Negotiations That Saved Us Money : Our March 2016 Budget Review

YOUR MONEY WON’T WORK BY ITSELF SO GIVE IT A PUSH   Treat your finances like you own a company and you are the CEO. Budget negotiations should be part of everyone’s financial plan not just the government and business owners. You may be working for someone else making them rich but when it comes to your money there are ways to achieve the same successes but on a personal level.  It’s amazing how many people take their budget for granted and accept the bills they are given instead of putting the green light on budget negotiations. You’ve worked hard for your money now make your money work for you. Don’t let your cash float away without seeing how much you can save. You don’t have to be an outspoken customer to get a better deal. Before you attack (take that with a grain of salt) you must be armed with details and the outcome you’d like from your budget negotiations. If you need to balance your budget but you’re off by $50 try to see if you can get your bundled-telecommunications services lowered. Make a deal. The top way to trim budget expenses is by negotiating the interest rates […]

Mr.CBB’s Blog Post Picks Of The Week~May 19-25,2012

By: Mr.CBB I’m back again with my second blog post picks post (say that 10 times). What a week it’s been for Canadian Budget Binder. We surpassed 25,000 blog views and have a wonderful 1500 Facebook Fans whom are a great team to talk to every day. My Twitter Followers have been growing slowly but that’s ok, we all have to start somewhere. My followers keep me up to date with the latest and greatest which I enjoy reading and re-tweeting.  I was also surprised to get nominated for another blogger award called the Kreativ Blog Award by my mate Dennis at What To Cook? Thanks again Dennis! When I started this blog it was merely to see if anyone out there wanted to listen about how we save money and stay out of debt. What I wasn’t prepared for were the vast amounts of not only Canadians but diverse cultures all over the world looking for advice, tips and answers to their questions.  I’ve met and teamed up with some amazing bloggers and fans that motivate me to keep doing what I do. To all of you, I thank you for taking a small blog like Canadian Budget Binder into […]
