10 Simple Resources To Get Free Christmas Gifts : The Saturday Weekend Review #200

IF YOU’RE SHORT ON CASH OR WANT TO SAVE MONEY THERE ARE WAYS TO GET FREE PRESENTS.   If Free Christmas Gifts sound tempting I’ll show you all the tricks that budget mad shoppers use to save cash and spend less during the holiday season. There’s no gimmicks, just a bit of hustle and time and you’ll be showered in free Christmas gifts before you know it. The moment Halloween is over the Christmas panic sets in, the weekly flyers are just as heavy as a sack of potatoes and money signs start running through our heads. Buying Christmas gifts can be expensive especially if you don’t have the money to spend in the first place. I’m a huge fan of second-hand shops, freebie sites and browsing buy and sell sites online. Every year without fail there is someone who posts an ad looking for Christmas help. It may be that they are a single mum or dad with no spare cash looking for gift cards, free Christmas gifts, food or decorations. Whatever the case may be it’s tough to read and even tougher to respond to. I want you all to know that waiting until the last month to […]

10 Food Staples To Buy When You’re Broke : The Grocery Game Challenge 2016 #3 Aug 15-21

BUILD YOUR PANTRY LIKE YOU WOULD YOUR WARDROBE   Instead of saying, “I am broke” look at what you can do to change that and create an action plan. It may sound like boring financial advice but I can tell you that if you have no interest in making changes you will always have a negative mindset. Guess what? No one cares. That’s right although people may feel sorry for you and some people will help you out they are likely fighting their own battles, have fought them or just don’t want to deal with someone else’s problems. Where does that leave you? At the mercy of yourself because you CAN make changes if you want to. You CAN get out of debt if you want to. You CAN live the life you dream of BUT not if you’re going to sit there and complain about why it isn’t happening, why it won’t happen, why it can’t happen and you continue to make excuses for yourself. Forget about everyone else and focus on YOU!   The Broke Pantry   Most people I run into want to know either how to start saving money or how to survive when they are […]

30 Must-Have Student Food Pantry Staples : The Grocery Game Challenge 2016 #1 Aug 1-7

Create your own student cookbook: University and College Cooking 101   You may or may not be a student but if your child is off to College or University don’t pass on the opportunity for them to spend 10 minutes reading this post about cooking and living independently away from the family home. I’ve been a student in University twice in my life and both times I made sure to have a stocked food pantry to stop me from eating out which is a HUGE waste of money for any student. It’s one thing to be social and another to be lazy in the kitchen if you are able to cook at home. I had many friends who considered themselves the starving student only because most of their student budget went to booze, partying and eating fast food. That’s a sure-fire way to starve your budget and your tummy of nutritious food. What I’ve learned throughout my frugal student years in the kitchen may serve as a handy reminder that you CAN eat decent meals at home and kick the fast-food habits many students take on when they move away for school. First off you need a student budget and […]

If You’re Running Out Of Grocery Money Try This : The Grocery Game Challenge #5 Nov 30-Dec 6, 2015

WHEN THE CUPBOARDS ARE BARE   Running out of grocery money before the end of the month is heartbreaking for anyone especially families with children. We all deserve to eat and should never go hungry but sadly this happens every day to people all over the world. Nobody likes to admit defeat but there are times where we have to step up and ask ourselves why things are going the way they are and whether we can make successful changes to our lives. The wonderful news is that there are services to help those in need who run out of grocery money in the form of free support in almost every city. A huge thank-you to those who take time to donate to food banks and other local charities because your support goes a long way to help people in need. There are also other ways to help get back on track financially as long as you are motivated to see results. I received the following email from a wife/mother of 2 young children this week that I wanted to share with you. Hi Mr.CBB, I wanted to know if you could give me some advice about grocery shopping. I’m […]

Single Millionaire Paid The Price To Get Where He Is Today

WE ALL HAVE A STORY   People may criticize the way you live your life but they might not know the price you paid to get where you are today. Stories often go untold because people are shy to say what they had to endure to become the person they are. I don’t talk about my life growing up with my friends but if they want to talk to me about theirs I’m happy to listen. It’s quite amazing what you learn about people once they open up about their upbringing and past.   The price you pay   You might have heard or read about those rags to riches stories which for some people hit home because they too were faced with situations that were unique but they overcame them. You don’t have to be a superstar to be deemed successful today all you need to do is believe in yourself. Those that don’t put in the effort to achieve their goals are often the people who put down those who pushed the limits to achieve their own. Believing that everyone with cash has or had the easy life is absurd. Just like others some of these rich people […]

Types of food bank donations and ways to save: The Grocery Game Challenge #1 Dec 1-7, 2014

FILLING THE FOOD PANTRY   Donations and food drives around the holidays are ramped up all over the world in hopes of making sure that all families have something to eat for the holidays. It’s not easy to come forward and ask for help but there are people who could really benefit from your generosity. Last year was the first time at my place of employment that we were able to help a family in the community who wasn’t able to provide their children with gifts to open on Christmas morning. Not only did we make sure that the kids were taken care of we all donated a few dollars to buy them a gift card to a local grocery store so they could buy food to make a festive family dinner.   Ways to give   During the year we make Salvation Army donations and give away free clothing and other items we don’t need via Kijiji and Facebook. Most of these places make it easy to donate like the Salvation Army drop-off centers so you don’t even have to go into the store. You can make a Goodwill donation, Bibles for Missions and a Value Village donation much […]

Should you trade, sell or donate unwanted sample freebies?

YOUR BEST DEFENSE IS TO BE INFORMED   Freebies means you don’t have to pay to try a product that you might not have otherwise bought but what happens when you don’t want the freebie? Do you sell it, trade it or give it away? Today I have a mailbag CBB Fan question that came in that I thought I would address based on my opinion and nothing more. As much as I love getting fan mail one thing I don’t do is give advice on what you should and shouldn’t do. I leave those decisions up to you because in the end the only person who is held responsible for actions taken, is yourself. If you don’t know the answer to a pressing question your best bet is to contact a professional or service that can provide you with the answers you are looking for.   Dear Mr.CBB There has been so much controversy online and on mommy groups about parents who sell freebies that they get from freebie sites online such as free clothes, free formula samples etc. that it’s becoming difficult to know what’s right and what’s wrong. It’s not something I’ve done personally but it has […]

When you see someone stealing food: The Grocery game challenge #4 Feb 24- Mar 2, 2014

DON’T GET CAUGHT STEALING   I hope I don’t ever have to witness someone stealing food at the grocery store but the reality is that theft at the grocery store happens every day. I don’t have to define stealing to anyone because we learn from a young age that if it doesn’t belong to us we don’t touch it and if you don’t pay for it then it’s not yours, full-stop. Have you ever walked out of a store and the alarms at the door go off because one of your products has a magnetic strip that wasn’t scanned? Or you did steal something and got caught… oh, now what? The alarms going off have happened to almost anyone and the first thing we do is shake our heads and say… I don’t know I paid for everything? We are in a stunned state. I’m to the point where it’s happened so often i just walk back and have them check the products again. A friend of mine had this belt he wore and it set off the alarms at every shop we went in. He got so embarrassed one day in the mall that he took it off and […]
