How to select fresh food at the supermarket: The Grocery Game Challenge 2015 #2 Jan 12-18

BUYING THE FRESHEST FOOD   When we grocery shop Mrs. CBB and I want to bring home fresh food because that’s what we should all expect from a supermarket, right? Finding fresh food or the freshest is always hit or miss but it doesn’t have to be that way. If you arm yourself with shopping habits we’ve come to rely on that I’m going to share with you today you are well on your way to becoming a grocery store fresh food sleuth. Grocery shopping might seem like something simple to you but believe me when I say there are people who are seeking to learn how to grocery shop. How could someone possibly screw up and buy food that is outdated, moldy, wilted or rotten for that matter? The saying “You get what you pay for” at the supermarket doesn’t always mean you get the freshest food. Considering that most Canadians have a limited grocery budget it’s important for all of us to spend our money wisely and that means finding fresh food that won’t end up in the garbage before we have time to consume it. Today I’m going to share with you some of the ways Mrs. […]

Join The Grocery Game Challenge 2015 : 2014 Overview and Final Shop #5 2014 Dec 29-Jan 4, 2015

THE GROCERY BUDGET COUNTS!   I can’t believe The Grocery Game Challenge 2015 is upon us but as we enter a brand new year of grocery savings we get the opportunity to make it right. If you are new to Canadian Budget Binder or landed on this page because you want to take control of your grocery budget in 2015 you’ve made a wise decision. The Grocery Game Challenge Canada is now starting in its fourth year and I’m proud to have so many fans join me along the way. I’d like to start this post off with a huge round of applause for all of the CBB fans that made it to the end of 2014 posting their grocery shops. I’m proud of your success and improvements along the way. What is The Grocery Game Challenge? The GGC as we like to call it is a weekly grocery budget update post by my family. We have a set grocery budget for two (now three as we have a new baby) and we do our best to stick to it. Part of the grocery savings plan is meal planning, writing a grocery list and trying new recipes so we don’t […]

Product reviews for coupons saving you money : The Grocery Game Challenge #4 Dec 22-28, 2014

YOUR OPINION FOR SAVINGS!   Product reviews are a great way for bloggers to share their opinions but there is not always a kick-back such as a free product. Companies are always looking for ways to reach the customer so coming up with innovative ways to get our attention is something they strive to improve on every day. Even with a giant social media splash it’s hard to motivate customers to buy unless there is something in it for them. Most times for someone to try a new product a good starting point is putting it on sale aside from offering it free or tastings. You might see sample booths set up around your grocery store for this reason. I’ve received a free book to review on Canadian Budget Binder and the offer of other products here and there (nothing I was interested in) but one thing is for sure there has to be incentive for me to go out of my way to talk about. The pleasure is not always monetary either as I am a blogger but for the most part if there is money to be saved and I’m interested then I’m in. Just last week I […]

Nielsen Homescan Canada: Shop, Scan and get Rewarded! : The Grocery Game Challenge #3 Dec 15-21,2014

HAVE YOUR SAY, ENJOY THE REWARDS!   Who thought that going shopping would be so rewarding? Believe me when I say joining the Nielsen Homescan Canada panel will open up a window of rewards to you because I’ve done it in the UK. Note: If the link to Join is closed please be patient until they open up a new campaign. This means they have reached their limit but come back to check often. Nielsen studies consumers in over 100 countries because they want to know what you like to buy! I remember the time when my wife came to the UK and we went grocery shopping together for the first time. Not only was she reading just about every product she could get her hands on (it took forever to shop with her) I was also explaining to her a little about this program I was involved in. I think it made more sense to her once I showed her my scanner and exactly what I needed to do. When we got home she wanted to help me put all the groceries away but I told her that we had to wait a moment so I could check everything […]
