A Guide To Spending Less On Work Clothes

BE SUCCESSFUL AT WORK WHETHER YOU WEAR GIANT TIGER OR GUCCI   Depending on where you’re employed purchasing work clothes can be costly especially if you must wear casual or business attire. I’m sure those of you who work from home and are reading this in your Pajamas can verify that work clothes are over-rated and a huge expense for anyone’s budget. There’s no need to splash a tonne of money to look presentable for work. The key to shopping for work clothes is to feel comfortable for your environment and abide by dress code rules. The worst thing employees can do is spend money to look good for the employer or other employees rather than focus on their role. It’s not a fashion show (unless of course you are a model but that’s probably the only industry where clothing matters but they likely don’t have to buy it.)   Success doesn’t come from what you wear   An excellent employee will always excel no matter if they are wearing Gucci or Giant Tiger work clothes. It’s more about motivation, dedication and drive to be successful. Your clothes can still be trendy and sexy even if you find ways to […]

The Secret Society Of Knock-Off Rich People : Our October 2016 Family Budget Update

THE SHOW MUST GO ON EVEN IF YOU’RE BROKE   I’ve had enough of playing the role of rich person when I’m not and I just want to be normal. This was part of an email conversation I had with a fan who is struggling with guilt over his debt and underlying reasons for wanting to appear rich when he’s just part of a secret society of debt clogged consumers living in Canada. If you truly believe that you can succeed by sloshing through crowds of affluent people with a line of credit or a slew of credit cards will help achieve your fortress then follow your dream.   Upscale performance of a life-time   The most expensive position you will ever have in your career is the one that you created that doesn’t exist. So you landed a role in the movie titled, “Upper Class” and you’re the star of the show. Is that a real Gucci Bag? Heck ya, I bought it when I was travelling in the UK. Lights, Camera, Action…you’re LIVE. […]

Is customer service affected by the clothes you wear shopping? : The Saturday Weekend Review #65

IS YOUR MONEY GOOD ENOUGH?   I think just about everyone has had someone turn their nose up at them while shopping. If you are the owner of a business with employees who shy away from customers because of their look you might be losing tonnes of cash. When I read a story about customer service and how you might not get service if you look homeless or dressed like you just went for a run true scenarios starting running through my head.   Time to shop   The writer called the Fashionista dressed down in gym attire to go shopping at some of the most prestigious stores to explore a Harvard study. This was where a doctoral student and two professors found that shop assistants in Milan found that dressing down meant more buying power. Meaning that dressing in casual or gym attire might score you the best customer service. So, armed with her gym wear and looking neat and tidy with make-up and her hair nicely kept the Fashionista and her friend Jeremy went shopping. Jeremy was around more to watch from the sidelines what was going on and he was well dressed. To be honest I would […]
