How To Create A Master Food List To Slash Expenses : The Grocery Game Challenge 2018 #2 Jan 8-14

YOUR GROCERY SHOPPING EXPENSES AREN’T GOING TO BALANCE WITHOUT A MASTER BEHIND THE PLAN   Easing into the grocery budget process by testing the waters for a few months with a Master Food List might just be YOUR ticket to food shopping success. If you’re anything like me when I was single I would tend to create the same recipes over and over only because it was easy, saved time and kept me from lingering around the grocery store. Once I got married we decided to become a lingering grocery shopping couple who had a frugal mindset yet we were and still are working on cutting back on roaming. This got me thinking the other day how easy it is to overspend when grocery shopping even if you have a meal plan and a shopping list. Besides having a focused mindset when in the grocery store it’s important that you stick to a food list that offers your meal plan all the staples. In the UK my list would have been small, certain vegetables, milk, eggs, cheese, pasta sauce, tortellini, sardines, bread, butter. I was and still am a simple guy but once I got married, EVERYTHING CHANGED! Our diet […]

Ricotta Eggnotta Italian Style Deep-Dish Crustless Quiche

A DELICIOUS EGG RECIPE FILLED WITH PEAMEAL BACON, RICOTTA CHEESE AND CHIVES THAT WILL PLEASE ANY CROWD   The Ricotta Eggnotta Deep-Dish Crustless Quiche is like no other because it’s made in a spring-form pan which gives it lots of height and plenty of plate porn for your guests. When a dish looks and smells delicious you will find you end up with an empty plate almost every time. This is that dish. I’ve loved a good Quiche ever since I can remember and my mum mad them often but with a pastry crust that was flakey and buttery. What I wanted to do is break the crust and pie-slice size Quiche that is tradition and bring it to new heights. (no pun intended) ha! The second reason I wanted to make this deep-dish crustless quiche is because it is a low-carb, keto recipe that I created for the family so my wife can also enjoy it.   Melt that cheese chef   Just last week I watched a video online where a restaurant topped their nachos with fried melted cheese which gave me this crazy idea to do the same with my deep-dish crustless Quiche. The Ricotta Eggnotta is […]

Is Price Just An Excuse for Buying Junk Food? : The Grocery Game Challenge #2 June 8-14, 2015

YOU ONLY GET ONE BODY   Healthy food and Junk food is expensive no matter which way we look at it. The price of our grocery budget jumps depending on how we decide to spend our money and on which products. Healthy eating habits start at home and takes work which means yes you need to put some effort into what you put into your body. Your mindset before you set off to the grocery store will determine just what you will purchase and fall prey to. The reason is simple, the grocery store plays to our senses and our wallet. Buying unhealthy foods typically happen because we want to buy them, packaging is nice, they taste and look good or we believe that’s all we can afford to buy. I remember a time a mate of mine back home told me it was cheaper for him as a single guy to eat out every day rather than cook. I doubt that was the case as I had never seen him cook a meal in the entire time I had been friends with him. He had no desire to be in the kitchen so eating out and buying junk food […]

How we eat healthy on a tight budget: The Grocery Game Challenge #4 Nov 24-30, 2014

DON’T FAIL BEFORE YOU BEGIN   We always have people who find out about our grocery game challenge ask how we manage to eat healthy on such a tight budget. To be honest it’s not that difficult to do especially if you are open to trying new foods and staying away from the foods you don’t need. Last week I blogged about grocery shopping at the Dollar Store and sure you might be able to pick up a few bits but you can’t eat healthy buying food in a store like that unless fresh produce and veg is offered.   Eat healthy for life   Everyone and I repeat everyone will have their own idea of what “healthy eating” means to them. You may feel that eating a healthy diet of fruits and veg is healthy where another may think that only eating organic is the way to live the healthy lifestyle. Eating healthy means eating whole foods that are prepared fresh and not eating more than your body needs. This is why when people ask me “How much should my grocery budget be?” I can’t answer them because based on personal needs they are the only one’s who can […]
