Reader question: When should you renovate your new home?

Renovate Your Home When It Is Right For You A fan sent me an email the other day and asked me the question, When should you renovate your new home? He said that him and his wife had just bought a home and they weren’t sure if they should renovate before they moved in or after they moved and wanted to know what we did when we bought our house. Home renovation checklist It was a question that I really didn’t have to think much about because we are in this position now. We did not renovate before we moved in and preferred to save the cash first before renovating. When we bought our home I created a checklist so I knew exactly what I needed to do although over the years it seems the list keeps growing. It was easier to read my list as I was going along rather than trying to remember in my head. Every smart planner will have a list so they have information to fall back on. Landscaping On A Budget In Canadian Soil- The Series Part 1

Get Ready To Landscape Your Dream Home Now that spring has sprung many people are anxious to get outside to start on their landscape projects. Landscape design: The plan As a landscape designer the first thing I ask my clients is about their budget – right away you need to know how much you want to spend on the project initially and long-term. Let me explain, when you undertake […]

Keeping the Costs Down-Spring Cleaning in the Canadian Sunshine!

Spring is in the Air! We’ve been waking up to windows open and the sun beaming down on us in our bed with the birds chirping a beautiful song for a couple of weeks now. You know it’s time to get up when all the familiar sounds, sights and smells engulf your space. Visions of cleaning our home inside and out, top to bottom, fill our heads as I’m sure it does yours. Winter is nice to chill out watching a movie by the fire, so what you shovel here and there but the term “lazy winter” is what it is! The first day of  Spring quickly came upon us yesterday March 20 but for weeks now the weather has been more than cooperative all over Canada and the USA. As the snow began to melt the unsightly landscaping of surrounding houses reminded us that this year was our year~ We await the flowers to bloom and the bees to jump about in their glory. This year is the year we are not only tackling our “Spring Cleaning” chores but have to landscape our property before the wildlife mistake it for their new home.  We will also be using “Vinegar” , baking soda and lemons […]
