4 Expensive Impulse Food Purchases You Should Dodge : The Grocery Game Challenge 2017 #3 Mar 13-19

GROCERY SHOPPING IS LIKE WALKING INTO A CANDY STORE FOR ADULTS   Impulse buying behaviour is something that every consumer has to deal with whether you believe yourself to be an economical shopper or not. Frugal shoppers are as sensitive to the marketing process of luring shoppers into buying stuff they don’t need as are those who aren’t so thrifty. As you already know I’m a grocery shopper with eyes and ears and occasionally a mouth that engages in food-related conversation. Most often I enjoy observing and listening to what others are saying if they are in my vicinity. Don’t worry I’m not a grocery store stalker, just a nosey customer.   Types of Impulse food purchases   Over the past 5 years that I’ve posted our grocery shops in the Grocery Game Challenge I’ve been more attentive to what people are buying. I’m not the best at multi-tasking but since part of my hobby (this blog) requires knowledge about other shoppers I tend to snoop a bit. When you’re not looking I am because I want to know what you’re buying. I’m also interested in knowing what you’re reading on packages before you toss it in the shopping cart. […]

This Simple Living Concept Allows Us To Save Thousands

MOTIVATE YOUR FINANCIAL VENTURES BY MOVING FORWARD   Simple living doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy all the frosting that life has to offer in order to live a better today for an amazing tomorrow. You can! Just about everything we do today will in part affect the outcome of our financial future and some people worry about whether they have done enough to get them to the finish line. I’ve blogged for a few years now and ever since the beginning there has been one simple living concept that I have encompassed our entire financial path around because it works, a budget. The concept of budgeting for us revolves around this saying which I created years ago which is also pasted on our refrigerator door. It’s not about how much money you make it’s how you save it – Mr.CBB I received an email from a reader who is looking for some insight about investing and her financial future and motivation about not finding this blog earlier. Dear Mr. CBB, About 9 yrs ago I moved from Europe to Canada. It was always a big dream for me to live abroad and when I turned 30 I realized my […]

Canadian Budget Binder-The Saturday Weekend Review #5 November

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review It’s been a lovely few days holiday for me so this Saturday Weekend Review will only tell you that I finished sealing the columns on the porch so another job, jobbed. Other than that I hung out with the Mrs. and managed to convince her that Monday was the best day to go to Twilight Breaking Dawn. I’ve already heard opening night in our city was a mad house. So if you find I am MIA come Monday evening you know where I am. If you read my Blog Post Picks yesterday you would have read about our trip to IKEA a few days back. Although last week I was telling you I was tearing up the bathroom for a remodel we decided there was nothing at IKEA that suits our style. We did however pick out our kitchen and it will look something like this IKEA Kitchen picture which I found at model kitchen pictures. Our kitchen won’t be identical in layout and accessories and there is more to the kitchen off to the back as well, pull out cabinets, built-in microwave.  We will put in a pot filler behind the stove. We don’t need the double ovens although Mrs. CBB says […]

Mr.CBB’s Weekly Blog Post Picks Nov 16,2012

This week has flown by and since I was on vacation for a few days I was able to get out and source out a new kitchen. This past week we made a trip to IKEA to pick out the kitchen we wanted as well as all the extras. We’ve went to all the big box stores and really you will get the same thing just for a higher price. In my house in England I installed an IKEA kitchen and loved it. I did all the work myself which was pretty easy to me and when it came time to sell the buyer fell in love with it. We’re looking forward to the renovations but not as much as we are looking forward to paying the mortgage off in full! Have you renovated and put in a new kitchen? How much did you spend and what did you put in? In no particular order, sit back, go ahead grab a hot beverage some Stuffed Santa Strawberries then enjoy these good weekend reads. Note: Next Week I will rename it the Mr.CBB’s Top 20 Blog Post Picks so I can control the length of this list. I know some of you […]

The Grocery Game Challenge November 12-18,2012 Ho,Ho,Ho,Holiday Treats!

Did someone say Holiday Treats? Last week in The Grocery Game Challenge we talked about planning to bake for the holidays and what you needed to do. Now that the weather has changed some of our neighbours have flipped the switch on their Christmas lights and put out their holiday decorations. We woke up to see our skylight this morning covered in snow and like kids we both rushed to the front window to see what the night had brought for us. Sadly, it was a small dusting but clearly the snow is on its way. For some it is still very early and for others like us we like to get a jump-start into the festive season so we can be enjoying it with friends and family as the weeks slide on in and party invites start to come in. The festive spirit has already ignited as we spread some holiday cheer. So we decided to make a few easy Christmas recipes in the upcoming weeks starting in December and I will post them every Sunday as a Holiday Treat Special. Every Sunday I post a recipe from Mr.CBB’s kitchen on the blog. It’ s the only time a week […]
