Cranberry Orange Biscotti Dipped In White Chocolate Drizzled With Lemon Glaze

BAKING SHOULD BE FUN AND THAT’S WHAT YOU’LL HAVE WHEN YOU MAKE THESE TWICE-BAKED CRUNCHY BISCOTTI DRIZZLED WITH LEMON ICING.   I’m in the kitchen again getting ready to bake more Christmas cookies for gifts and friends who pass by for a visit over the holidays. It’s always nice to send company home with a little care package and I like to do that sometimes with baked goods I’ve made. The aroma in the air today will be from Cranberry Orange Biscotti dipped in white chocolate then finished with a drizzle of lemon icing. You’re already brewing the coffee aren’t you? Biscotti are Italian biscuits that are twice-baked so they are delicious and hard with a bit of chew. You enjoy biscotti along with coffee or tea whenever you get the urge for something sweet. When you’re visiting Italy you may learn that the Italians also enjoy their biscotti with sweet wine. I love the Christmas holidays and so does my family because it’s a time of year where we feel closer than ever before. The kids know that as soon as they come in from school something sweet will be baking in the oven. Once the smell hits their […]

Pumpkin Biscotti with Pumpkin Spice Icing

THE PUMPKIN SCONE SWITCH-UP Last Sunday I shared my Pumpkin Scone with Pumpkin Spice Icing recipe on the blog and the moment I bit into it I knew I could change-up the recipe and make Pumpkin Spice Biscotti. I love when recipes can double-up, which means you can create two different recipes at the same time. This is always handy when you have a bake sale to bake for or you are having a party or lots of guests over to the house. My wife adores biscotti because of the crunchy texture especially with a hot cup of strong coffee or mug of tea. The last batch of biscotti I made was Nicola’s lemon biscotti because my wife wanted me to try her recipe. She was more than thrilled that I was finally making pumpkin biscotti and when they were done she gave me the thumbs up which made me proud. I never know how a recipe will turn out but this one I was quite confident that it would be a success. I’ve made biscotti recipes many times but I’ve never created one from a scone recipe before.   Making Pumpkin Biscotti   If you’ve already make my pumpkin […]

PF Weekly Grab a Brew #52: Boxing Day madness wasn’t so mad

DEALS WORTH GETTING UP FOR   I don’t mind going shopping on Boxing Day as long as long as I don’t have an agenda. I find that every year we tend to head out to the stores with no goal in mind only to see what bargains are to be found. It’s more of a tradition each year now just to roam around and see what the stores are getting rid of at rock bottom prices. We set out early on Boxing Day bright and early at 5:30 with our first stop being Future Shop for 6am only to notice that the line-up wasn’t near as long as it was in 2012. What is going on? Are people not wanting to spend money on Boxing Day? Are the deals not worth getting up for? To be honest we didn’t even read the Boxing Day flyers as it’s been so busy. Is online-shopping taking front seat to getting up and venturing out into the cold waiting in line? Not everyone is comfortable shopping online yet but I’m betting over time we will see more people staying home unless the stores come up with better in-store deals. Future shop even went as […]
