Home buyer is scared to submit house offer for one reason : The Saturday Weekend Review #144

THE ENDLESS REAL ESTATE SEARCH   Buying a home is a big deal or should be a big deal to anyone who is in the market to buy real estate. Every now and then my wife and I enjoy trolling through the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) to see what homes are for sale in our area. It’s nice to get any idea of where the house prices are at and what people are selling. While at work the other day I was having lunch with a colleague and I knew that she was looking to sell their home to buy a new one. They were struggling because they have looked at houses for the past 2 months and nothing has come up that caught their eye. Every evening after dinner they would sit at the kitchen table and look at MLS listings writing down any potentials and letting their agent know that they would like to book a viewing. If it wasn’t the price that pushed them away it was the shady renovations or the property was too small. It was always something. They are not new to the home buying process as they’ve owned 2 other homes prior to […]

5 Secrets your millionaire neighbour isn’t telling you

LISTEN UP IF YOU WANT TO KNOW   You never know who is a millionaire these days, or do we? A record-breaking 12 million people were millionaires in 2013 and researchers predict that people with net worth of at least a million dollars would continue to increase for the coming years. Their survey also showed that most of these millionaires reside in North America, specifically in the United States; the land of opportunity, while its close friend, Canada, isn’t far behind with almost 500,000 millionaires living there. Now, if we are going to look closely into those numbers, we can conclude that the chances of you knowing a millionaire have increased over the years and so has your chances of being neighbors with a millionaire. You may not know it yet, but Mr. and Mrs. Smith may be millionaires but they just don’t want you and their other neighbours to find out because they don’t like the attention and prefer to live a simple life. That’s right. Most millionaires are not fond of bragging about their net worth to others, neither do they want to show off to residents in their neighbourhood. Actually, there are a number of things that […]

Take Note: Mr Cbb’s Top Six Money Wasting Pet Peeves!

You should know by now if you read my blog that I am a fairly easy-going laid back type of guy. Not much seems to bother me and I just let crap roll off my back. Life is too short after all to sweat the small stuff, right? Well for me it’s true all the way up until money starts going out the window for things we can control. Since moving to Canada and into my first home here I’ve learned from my neighbours and friends on what NOT to do to save money. I understand debt ,credit cards, lines of credit, mortgages, school loans, and personal loans and how it can take over our life. What I don’t get is how some people let common sense fly out the window then complain that they have no money! Seriously, I see it all the time! Is education key? Absolutely as some people have no idea of how money is flying through their fingers faster than they make it. So let’s start with some basic pet peeves of mine and areas where you might be able to save a buck or 10! For instance… how many of you know someone who brushes their […]

My Canadian Neighbour Paid Me To Walk My Dog ~ So Thanks!

When I started this blog I thought if I ever did any advertising I would be thrilled to make enough money for a case of beer a month.  I don’t drink often but in the hot summer I don’t mind a cold one or 2 out on the deck with me mates. Although I love budgeting, quitting me day job to sit with you on a full-time basis is not yet a reality … although I’m optimistic.  Everyone knows Mr.CBB is a frugal young man who loves to save his pennies where he can.  If that means picking one up off the ground, ya damn right I will. Money is money even when it’s free money and every penny counts. Last autumn we took a drive up to the local park where campers spent some of their summer. We were able to wander in free of charge as the sun was put away for another year. While walking round I poked my head in a bin. To my surprise I saw… yep you guessed it, “beer cans” and lots of them. I normally keep a plastic bag in my truck so what began as a stroll in the park turned into […]
