The Ultimate Guide For Buying Real Food : The Grocery Game Challenge 2017 #1 Oct 2-8

THERE ARE SO MANY REASONS WHY WE SHOULD BE MINDFUL OF THE FOODS WE PUT INTO OUR BODY.   We hear the term ‘real food’ splashed around social media constantly and grocery stores market fresh organic produce and other products to entice shoppers to consider what they eat. My father-in-law swears by his garden and says nothing beats organic produce but consumers may find they get lost in translation towards the food industry. What’s good? What’s not good? Costs? Health? Grocery shopping for the most part seems like a simple chore but many consumers are left wondering what they should and shouldn’t be eating. You might be reading this right now and not give a rats a$$ about real food and eat whatever you want and that’s fine. Your choice. Are we mindful enough of the food we put into our bodies or do we shop for quantity over quality? In our house it’s a bit of both although it truly depends on the person behind the grocery list and the grocery budget. Cooking skills are a must as are the ability to follow recipes or even create your own. If cooking isn’t your thing you might struggle with real […]

How to get what you pay for when buying online

DON’T REGRET YOUR PURCHASES   If you fail to take a few minutes to read over the small print you might just be surprised what you are actually buying. With the holidays fast approaching and many people scrambling to buy their Christmas gifts many people buy online, especially if they can score a great deal. We often talk about how we like to sometimes buy online vs. in-store whether from Kijiji or picking up the odd items on Ebay or Amazon but with that comes caution when spending our money. Buying online items is not something new and it’s well secure for the most part but what happens when the buyer is the person who is trying to scam you out of money even though it’s plain to see you are getting what you pay for. I was reading a Yahoo post the other day about a 19-year-old guy from the UK of all places who was hoping to get his hands on the new X-Box One that was recently released. He also has a 4-year-old child whom he stopped at nothing to make sure he was able to get the X-Box One for but he was duped at the […]

XBOX ONE or PlayStation 4: Does it pay to wait?

INSTANT GRATIFICATION OR WAIT AND SAVE   The world of technology is constantly changing and companies are continuously trying to out-do each other with the coolest and most innovative products on the market. With Christmas just around corner, many youth and even some adults may have the new PlayStation 4 or Xbox One on their Christmas wishlist. Though I do enjoy a video game here and there I will not be one to jump on the bandwagon of purchasing either a PS4 or Xbox at its release or even months afterwards. I would one day like to own a PlayStation console but I am content waiting right now as a $399.99 purchase is not something I am willing to make on a brand new product that will still need a few glitches worked out.   Pick a console   Which console is best for you? I am not a huge gamer though I am the Guitar Hero in this house and it really is the only video game that I can successfully play. I have played on all the gaming consoles; Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the Wii with my preference being the PlayStation 3. I often joke that I […]

Christmas Shopping: Online or In-store?

SHOPPING OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON Did you know there are only 40 shopping days left until Christmas? With Christmas being not too far away the rush to get one’s Christmas shopping finished begins. Whether you plan to pack your suitcase full of gifts and jet off on holidays to see the family or shop right at home you can easily access shopping at your fingertips without stepping  foot out the door. While some people prefer to shop only in stores there are many people who will choose to do the majority if not all of their shopping online. Tablets, smartphones and free wi-fi access offered in places like Tim Hortons and McDonald’s, have made online shopping even more convenient than just being able to shop from the comfort of your home. Though convenient, online shopping may not always be the best the choice when it comes to your finances and your Christmas budget.   Online shopping   Online shopping allows you to shop from the comfort of your home or really anywhere you are able to gain online access. Shopping online you avoid having to deal with overworked sales people, waiting in long lineups or having to drive […]

PF Weekly Grab A Brew #28: Protect yourself when buying and selling online

I don’t know how many times I’ve read about people getting injured, robbed or sadly killed through buying and selling through online ads. Shopping online for a second-hand bargain is great but not if it comes at the expense of either the seller or the buyer, which for some could end in a not so nice fashion. Car scams keep popping up in the news and it’s about time we took action against these people who just don’t know how to make an honest living without ripping people off. I’m one who enjoys shopping on Kijiji Canada but I’ve never bought from Craigslist although I’m sure they are one in the same. You can even surf Facebook Marketplace and local online for sale ads in your community on Facebook to buy, sell and/or auction off items you no longer want. That’s great right? You’re making extra money that you can use to put towards your budget or to grow your savings account. So what’s the problem? The problem isn’t so much what we are doing; the buying or selling, it’s the crazy people out there that are willing to stop at nothing to make a few bucks with these scams. […]

How To Deal With A Shopping Addiction?

Confessions Of A Shopaholic………………………….My name is Erika and this is my story. Maybe I Should Be Called a Shopaholic Online? You know, I’m not really sure when I came to terms with being a “shopaholic,” but after looking back at the last few years of my life, it’s easy to diagnose myself now that I have taken a step back and fully understand how the addiction was affecting me. I have to admit…I think the world of online shopping was a catalyst in sparking this addiction. For some reason, when I buy anything online, it doesn’t really feel like spending money. When I’m at the store, I can touch different fabrics and really feel the quality of what I am spending my money on. Since I can see and touch things physically, it makes me not want to spend my hard-earned money even more since I have to pass over my card or cash. The actual ACT of shopping is still not something I partake in as often as I shop online. Why is Online Shopping So Enticing? For one, everything online just looks so perfect. The lighting is just right, the item is shown in that perfect angle, and look…your […]
