This Zoodles Bolognese is so good you’ll be telling yourself that it is on the weekly menu forever. Every bite is filled with tonnes of flavours from the spices. YOUR SWEET TOOTH WILL LOVE THIS LOW CARB CHEESECAKE DESSERT.   Lemon lovers this low carb lemon cheesecake is for you. While Spring cleaning our entire refrigerator we found 3 bricks of Philadelphia cream cheese that needed using up. Naturally, since we both have a sweet tooth Mrs. CBB and I went to work thinking about low carb desserts with cream cheese that we could create. Low carb cheesecake was our first thought, but what kind? We already knew that a low carb cheesecake would have to be a; Sugar-Free Cheesecake Gluten-Free Cheesecake Then we toggled back and forth ideas about unique cheesecake flavours that we could keep low carb. Tough times I know. Since we recently made a batch of low carb brownies (recipe to come) we decided to stay away from chocolate and go with a citrus cheesecake. Lemon cheesecake seemed like the obvious choice but could we make it taste like the real thing? Of course we could try. Since our low carb lemon pound cake with frosting was and still is our most popular low carb dessert we thought we’d make cheesecake with a tangy lemon twist. Creating a low carb cheesecake recipe wasn’t too hard […]

Cream of Asparagus Soup with Asiago Cheese (Low-Carb) (Gluten-Free)

MAKING A POT OF HOMEMADE ASPARAGUS SOUP DOESN’T GET ANY EASIER.   Although we enjoy broth and tomato based soups another famous soup we make in the CBB kitchen is our Cream of Asparagus Soup. Not only is it low-carb and gluten-free it’s extremely easy to make, budget-friendly and brings home the flavours of Ontario produce when available. During early-mid June if you love to forage you can find wild organic asparagus growing in ditches around farmers fields preferably that grow and sell asparagus. Mrs. CBB grew up with her dad who loves to forage still to this day. Over the years since she was a small child she’s foraged for wild asparagus, wild mushrooms, wild berries and plenty of other free wild edibles. I’ve been introduced to the foraging life quite a few times and it’s amazing what grows and is hidden in the forests, ditches and tall grasses. I won’t get into the specifics of wild asparagus picking but Mrs. CBB found Crystal over at Whole Fed Homestead who offers a detailed blog post about How To Hunt and Forage for Asparagus. Mrs. CBB says that reading her post brings back lots of memories because this was exactly […]

ENJOY A SLICE OF LEMON HEAVEN   If you’re looking for a low carb, sugar-free, grain-free, gluten-free cream cheese lemon pound cake then you’ve clicked on the right link because even I can’t tell it is low carb and polished off a few slices. It has been almost one year since she’s given up sugar, grains and most fruits and vegetables to lead a low carb lifestyle. She loves this way of eating, feels great and has lost all the weight she gained […]

Best Low Carb Chocolate Frosted Zucchini Brownies

INDULGE YOUR SWEET TOOTH WITH THESE MOIST ZUCCHINI BROWNIES   If you’re anything like us you have a kitchen counter full of zucchini also called courgette and wondering what on earth you can do with it all. I have a sweet suggestion for you! You can make these outrageously moist low carb chocolate frosted zucchini brownies and no one will ever know they are healthy. Zucchini are a summer squash which can reach nearly a meter in length, but is usually harvested immature at 15–25 cm. In the British Isles, a fully grown zucchini is referred to as a marrow.- Source Wikipedia Zucchini The zucchini we used for this recipe were organic and full-grown so we removed all the skin which tends to be tough and grated it using a box grater. This is a simple way to make sure none of the mature seeds get into your zucchini brownies. The shredded zucchini gets lost in the chocolate brownie batter which is a cake-like consistency and no one will even know it’s there. You can’t even taste it. The main role of the zucchini is to keep cakes and brownies moist. What you’re left with is a healthier option for a […]
