How To Create An Organized Monthly Grocery List : The Grocery Game Challenge 2018 3/4 Feb 19-Mar 4

GROCERY SHOPPING REQUIRES PRECISION PLANNING FOR BEST RESULTS   I know that everyone has different planning strategies when it comes to preparing for a grocery shop however if you fall into the monthly grocery list category you know the importance of over-planning. One of the most asked grocery shopping questions I’ve gotten over the years apart from how much a grocery budget should be revolves around grocery lists. How do you make a grocery list that gets you in and out of the grocery store? How to create a grocery list for one, two, family of 4, or students? A basic grocery list is straight-forward but when weekly shopping turns into a monthly grocery list you’ve got a bit more work to do. I don’t know many people who like to spend more time than needed in the grocery store which is why a meal plan and simple weekly shopping list is ideal. The problem with this is that not everyone has an opportunity to make a weekly super-fly trip to the grocer. If this is you than you may find yourself planning a bi-weekly or even monthly grocery list which is far more work. Related: How monthly grocery shopping […]

How To Investigate Whether A Sale Price Is Worth Your Money : The Saturday Weekend Review 2016 #154

DON’T LET THE SALE PRICE BLIND YOU   It’s amazing how many of us won’t blink an eye when shopping and see a sale price that silently shouts pick me, pick me. We believe we are reading the truth, but are we really? I’m betting that most of you have made your way to outlet stores across the country in search of quality products with a bargain sale price. Who wouldn’t, especially around the holidays when expenses can run high for any budget. Just recently we went to the Toronto Premium Outlet mall and to be honest there wasn’t as many deals as we thought we would find. In fact many of the prices were higher or just as much as we would pay had we bought the item at the mall. Some of the products we found with lower price tags may have been end of season or on a sale rack. I’m sure there were lots of deals to be found at the outlet stores although we were looking at specific items. Stores bank on customers believing that if they don’t buy it there than they will be paying more money somewhere else. Don’t let someone else tell […]

5 Ways Price Matching Can Significantly Lower Your Grocery Budget This Year : The Grocery Game Challenge #4 Dec 28, 2015- Jan 3, 2016

ALWAYS FIND THE BEST PRICE   Many stores have a price matching guarantee which means if you’re not taking advantage of this wonderful money saving tool then you’re throwing money out the window. Don’t believe me? You are because what takes a few minutes of your time might take you longer to earn the money you are splashing without cashing in on the savings. Prices hardly ever go down on groceries these days and with produce prices going up in 2016 consumers better start thinking about how their grocery budget will be affected. Have you seen the price of cauliflower these days? One head runs from $5.99-$8.00 at some grocery stores. My wife wanted me to buy one for her but I’m not “Splurging” on cauliflower when it was $0.99 in the summer. She can wait to indulge when it’s cheaper. If spending money on food is not a big deal to you then you probably won’t care but you likely wouldn’t be here reading this in the first place. If you are critical about the money you spend in your grocery budget or you’re trying to get back on track with your spending you should learn about price matching. […]

How to get grocery savings you deserve without embarrassment: The Grocery Game Challenge #1 July 6-12,2015

LEAVING THE SAVINGS   While standing in line to get groceries the other day the lady in front of us had a product scan in higher than the shelf price. For all you savvy Canadian shoppers you know that most grocery stores follow The Scanning Code of Practice (SCOP). That meant that she could have gotten the product that scanned in higher FREE up to $10. When she told the cashier that the product was cheaper the cashier needed to check the price. The customer was happy to settle on paying for the shelf price and moving on with her day as most people are. While she was doing that I mentioned SCOP to the lady and she shook her head when I told her to mention it. She said, “No, I’m too embarrassed to ask”. I thought how could someone be embarrassed to get some grocery savings? It’s not that hard to ask for something but for some people it’s a BIG deal especially if it’s not something they’ve done before. It was then I realized that maybe customers wouldn’t be so embarrassed to ask for deals if they knew how to ask. Last week this also happened to […]

Black Friday: Not just a one day sale anymore

SAVE NOW ON BLACK FRIDAY SPECIALS   No more crossing the border for Black Friday as the sales are set to begin on our home turf, many starting today or at the stroke of midnight. If you are not sure what to expect for Black Friday 2013 which falls on Friday, November 29 this year get ready to save some serious cash if you know what you are looking for. Black Friday is just about here and in some places the lines of people camping out in some cases for days at a time have already begun. There are lots of great deals to be found on Black Friday, many of which are in limited quantities meaning a lot of people are hoping to get their hands on one and many who have been unable to in the past. With Black Friday planned around the American Thanksgiving and originally being only an American sale day, Canadian retailers are trying their best to keep Canadians shopping for some exclusive Black Friday deals in Canada. As part of an attempt to keep more Canadians shopping at home instead of crossing over the border into the United States, many retailers are now offering, […]
