Turkey Chunks In Teriyaki Sauce

HAVE I GOT AN EASY TERIYAKI SAUCE FOR YOU!   We always have leftover turkey after the holidays so having a few quick turkey recipes up my sleeve is important. There are only so many hot turkey sandwiches one can eat so I created these flavourful turkey chunks in a homemade teriyaki sauce. What does the word teriyaki mean anyways? I looked up it because I wanted to know… Teriyaki is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar- Wikipedia This is a go-to recipe of mine which doesn’t take long to make especially for those of you looking for quick dinner ideas. If you like to meal plan like I do you can also make the turkey chunks with teriyaki sauce ahead of time and freeze them. The teriyaki turkey chunks are easy to defrost in the microwave or a quick re-heat on the stove-top. You can bring this for lunch at work or eat at home as part of a balanced meal. The homemade teriyaki sauce is miracle sauce in my eyes as it’s delicious to have with just about any recipe. I […]

Budget Friendly Easy Dinner Ideas: The Grocery Game Challenge #4 Oct 20-26,2014

SIMPLE RECIPES IN A FLASH!   Life in the kitchen was great until our son came into this world and now we are counting on easy dinner ideas just so we eat decent food. Over the course of the past 7 weeks our diet has went from eating homemade foods with fresh vegetables and fruits to canned soup, sandwiches and cereal. Lately I’ve been on the hunt for fast meals that pack a nutritious punch in a short amount of time. Sure we could have planned freezer meals ahead of time but we prefer to cook hot meals rather than turning on the oven to re-heat frozen food if we don’t have to. We do enjoy frozen foods such as perogies, ravioli, tortellini, fish and some vegetables but we’ve never ventured into batch cooking.   Cheap meals   I know that many parents and working couples rely on 15 minute meals just to make sure they get something hot into their stomachs and to avoid the dreaded TV dinner or even costlier….eating out. Another reason that homemade quick meals are important is because most are budget friendly depending on the type of ingredients you purchase. I know many of my […]

Easy homemade perogies

LITTLE STUFFED DUMPLINGS   It’s been a long anticipated recipe but here is my version of the traditional Polish perogies recipe. Just last week I brought you the twice baked potato skins and this week another potato recipe just a bit different although you will love it. The perogie is a traditional Polish food that has many names around the world. In Polish it is known as the Pierogi and you may run into other variations such as perogie, perogy, perogi and so on.   Getting to know perogies   I was first introduced to the perogie delicacy by my friend Charlene. We had to organize a fundraiser for the pre-school and she though it was a no-brainer to make Perogies. She thought that we could easily make them and all the profit would go to the pre-school since they are a fairly frugal meal to create. (They raised over $1,000) I had to ask what a perogie was as it’s not something we eat in Scotland or the UK for that matter as much as we love our spuds (potatoes). When I saw how easy it was to make perogies and how delicious they tasted I was hooked and […]
