35 Minute Zoodles Bolognese (Zucchini Pasta w/Meat Sauce)

ZOODLES ARE A GREAT SUBSTITUTE FOR HIGH CARB HEAVY PASTA. TRY FOR YOURSELF, YOU’LL BE GLAD YOU DID   Today I’m sharing with you an easy recipe that you can have on the table in about 35 minutes working at a steady pace. Hear Ye! Hear Ye! I can now announce that I am the new King Zoodles Chef. Mrs. CBB said that I’ve finally mastered the art of zucchini noodles. That or she just wants me to keep cooking so she doesn’t have to. Nah, she meant it. Good-bye pasta. Thanks for many years of tummy filling goodness but we’re moving on to something far different and it’s gluten-free. We are a pasta loving family but in order to keep the carbs low we’ve started removing as much gluten as we can as well sugar but most of all, eating too much food. This Zoodles Bolognese is so good you’ll be telling yourself that it is on the weekly menu forever. Every bite is filled with tonnes of flavours from the spices. A dish like this in a restaurant could easily cost you $20 where I was able to make this entire recipe that serves 4-6 people for that […]

Easy juicy meat buns

BATCH COOKING FOR EASY MEALS MADE SIMPLE   If you haven’t tried meat buns yet and you love hamburgers you must give these little packages of love a try. Last week I made those lovely steak bakes for you and this week something a wee bit different. Meat buns are a no fuss put together meal that can be made the night before or frozen for another day for a quick on the run meal. I’m always looking for easy meat recipes so family doesn’t have to have the same meals over and over again. What I like about these meat buns are that they are unique. The Japanese have something similar with their Japanese meat buns although I believe they are steamed buns. I’ve never had them before but I would like to one day. They are comparable to what a Cornish pasty is in the UK. If you haven’t had a Cornish pasty before you must try one. My friend over at Farmgirl Fare has an amazing recipe for Cornish pasties which are traditional and created by the one and only popular British Chef Jamie Oliver. I make my own as well and I’ll share that recipe with […]

Meatless Stuffed Parsleyed Onions

SPICE UP YOUR DINNER TABLE AND GET STUFFED With the holidays around the corner and party invitations on the rise these meatless stuffed parsleyed onions are a perfect side dish or appetizer. If you are going to a potluck or need to bring a dish to a gathering this may be the talk of the table so gather up the simple ingredients and get cooking! The great thing about these stuffed onions is that they are unique as you don’t see them often on the menu so it will be a lovely treat for your guests. So as part of our girlie night that I talked about last week with you we were asked to bring two dishes along with us, a sweet one which was my Lemon Citrus Syrup Yoghurt Cake and a savory dish which I chose meatless stuffed parsleyed onions. When us ladies have gotten together before we have been left to our own devices and brought more than two dishes and then had more than we could eat so this time we put a limit on what we could bring to combat so many leftovers and potential food waste. Deciding what to take was between a […]

Mr.CBB’s Tomato Minestrone Soup Recipe

When the colder weather approaches soups, stews and chili are on the menu more often than not. In Mr.CBB’s Kitchen this week I have participated in the British Columbia Welfare Food Challenge by raise the rates. With this challenge you start with an empty pantry and you spend only $26 at the grocery store on foods you will eat all week. The purpose of the challenge is to get a better understanding about how challenging it can be to live on $109 a month for groceries given to welfare recipients. You can read about my journey along the way in The Grocery Game Challenge posts and What I ate the first 2 days of the challenge. This quick homemade soup was created from my list of ingredients and I have to say it was absolutely amazing. So amazing that I couldn’t stop Mrs.CBB from stealing 3 bowls of the soup over the course of 3 days. This was such an easy minestrone soup to make. A large pot of soup is not only easy to make but it’s a cheap way to fill you up with some healthy good food. This pot of soup used almost all the ingredients I had in […]
