How A Grocery Store Scammer Gets Away With It : The Grocery Game Challenge 2017 #3 Sept 18-24

AWARENESS OF THE UNDERGROUND WORLD OF SHOPLIFTING AND THE COSTS TO CUSTOMERS AND RETAILERS IS NECESSARY   Scammers are a huge financial loss for grocery retailers across the country and unless there is an awareness most of it falls on a blind eye, at least at the consumer level. The past 10 years Mrs. CBB and I have worked hard to save money at the grocery store and scammers make it difficult for frugal-minded shoppers to keep up with increased prices and loss of programs aimed to help shoppers save. Is shoplifting an addiction? I guess it can be if the scammer believes they can’t stop or doesn’t know how to. The thrill and the savings becomes a hobby rather than a need. I was not shocked to find a 2014 Shoplifters Anonymous Tumblr blog based out of Toronto which shares stories and tips from scammers on how to get free stuff. It’s hard not to read it all because humans are naughty by nature and want to know even if they don’t want to participate. When coupons were the hottest thing going there were coupon men and women who became greedy and ruined it for everyone else. It may […]

The Ultimate Guide To Find Recipes For Free or Cheap: The Grocery Game Challenge 2016 #3 Nov 21-27

LET ME SHOW YOU ALL THE SECRET PLACES THAT RECIPES MIGHT BE TUCKED AWAY   Years ago the father would be the head of the household and go to work and the mother would be a stay at home mum who cooked, cleaned, grocery shopped, paid the bills and looked after the kids. Both are uniquely full-time jobs except the wife got to stay home which meant cooking meals from scratch was popular as were finding new recipes to create for family meal time. Picture the woman in the kitchen with her apron on and her family sitting at the dinner table while she serves the food. This was the image that was depicted back in the 50’s and 60’s but not everyone could afford to have a stay at home mother. This is a rare position these days although just because two parents go to work doesn’t mean the job doesn’t have to get done. We all need to eat which means we either create recipes, find recipes, eat out or buy convenience foods which I don’t care for myself. Juggling the role of working parents and homemakers is a tough job,(I know because I do this) but it […]

The Saturday Weekend Review #32: Define pay it forward

Don’t Say Try, Just Do It Any time I read one of these ‘pay it forward stories’ it does remind me that there are good people in this world.  Our minds become clouded watching the darkness of negativity in the news whether it be in print, television or listening on the radio. That is really part of what sells in the media and most people although saddened thrive on what’s going wrong around the world and forget about what’s going right. When reading a positive story it simply lightens up the world just a bit brighter than it was the day before. We don’t often hear of all the good Samaritan stories but when we do in most cases it touches our hearts and makes us wonder how we can give back if we aren’t already. This morning I read this pay it forward story on Yahoo which was a nice change from all the crap we get to read on a daily basis in the news. To paraphrase what happen, some guy was checking his baggage at the Tampa International airport when his credit card was declined. While he was trying to sort out the problem one of others […]

The Saturday Weekend Review #13- Happy Easter! Why Can’t People Just Be Happy?

It’s going to be a Happy Easter this weekend for us but I often wonder why some people just can’t be happy. I’m a Yahoo nerd and I pretty much scan through the headlines every day to see what’s happening in the world. I mean who needs to pay for a newspaper subscription these days when all the glory and misery is at our finger tips. I am generally a happy person that I hope people enjoy being around. I often try to understand the reasons why I might be thinking something negative in order to improve by inner health. I’m also one of those guys who is happy for my friends and family when something good happens in their life. Why Can’t People Just Be Happy? We’ve all had friends and family who have had a rough day or are going through tough times in their lives and we should be there to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. When something good happens to people sometimes the jealousy monster come out in people where you kind of sit back and say, wait a minute, who are you to rain on their parade because you […]
