How To Avoid Turning One Dollar Into A $29 Credit Card Fee

A CREDIT CARD HAS ONE MISSION-TO MAKE MONEY.   Would you open your window while driving and empty your wallet out? Laughable, however too many of us do this without even knowing it. Never ever just open a credit card bill or any bill and just pay it. If you do this then you run the risk of throwing money out the window. This almost happened to us but thankfully we DO read our statements and found a surprising credit card fee that was not expected. Related: Why you should always read your grocery receipt Besides earning rewards some people they pay a heavy price for holding a credit card balance and paying the minimum. That’s really not what I’m going to talk to you about today though. Quite the opposite actually which not only sent us to the telephone with our jaw dropped but to find out almost all credit card companies do this. Credit Card Fees…. there’s more than 1. We’ve never once paid any interest to a credit card company and don’t plan to begin but this isn’t an interest charge it’s an over credit limit charge. The Saturday Weekend Review #4 January-Marketplace On Bank Fees~Magnifying Glass Needed!

While eating dinner last night I turned on CBC Marketplace one program I actually enjoy watching on the television here in Canada. If you are not familiar with Marketplace it’s a program that backs Canadians as our consumer watchdog now in it’s 40th year. Marketplace co-host Erica Johnson asked Canadians “Do you have a gripe about Bank Fees?” and busted the big 5 banks. This was great, I almost wanted to break out a bag of Orville Redenbacher, finally someone is speaking up. She says that people feel that banks are “ripping them off”. It’s not surprising when we hear that some Canadians are forking over $50 a month. According to the Canadian Bankers Association spokesperson in the show, “31% of Canadian pay no fees” and the rest, well I’m afraid, you do. When was the last time you sat down and went over all your bank statements to check how much you pay for fees? Preet Banerjee, an independent Personal Finance Expert and Blogger at WhereDoesAllMyMoneyGo.com voiced his opinion and says, “we are partly to blame because we don’t keep track of all these fees” and I agree. It’s the same with budgeting we need to know where our money is going, how else […]

Did You Order Your Credit Report Canada? It’s Free There’s No Excuse!

YOUR CREDIT REPORT IS YOUR HISTORY   When I asked my fans if they had ordered their credit report or if they knew what was on their credit report the answer was an astounding no for many of them.  Most had no idea how to go about ordering a free credit report in Canada. Today, I’m going to show you just how easy that is and it won’t cost you a dollar. Some fans didn’t even care about seeing their credit report and that’s fair as some people truly don’t care but for others it is crucial to know what is happening behind the credit scenes. The worst thing is being uninformed until something goes wrong and then you rush to fix any financial concerns. Sadly, fixing credit doesn’t happen overnight and will take time. A friend of ours moved into an apartment and wanted to get some furniture from the Buy Now, Pay Later place only to find out her credit report came back with an unhealthy mark so she was denied credit. When I asked my Facebook community about their credit report I was also surprised to learn that most had no idea where to find out about […]
