Critical 6 Point Consumer Exit Grocery Store Check-list : The Grocery Game Challenge 2017 #2 Mar 6-12

NOW YOU’LL HAVE TO GO BACK…WORDS YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR.   Grocery shopping is already expensive enough for consumers that the last thing we want to do is spend more money by not being focused on the task at hand. This is where an exit grocery store check-list will come in handy. Beep, Beep, Beep the sound of the payment machine telling you to remove your card, but you don’t hear it. That’s how easy and fast it is to float off to la-la land at the grocery store. Seconds. It only took once for me to mess up before I changed the way I made my grocery store getaway. After a long day at work, running errands and picking up the kids you’re probably ready for a hot bath, a drink and some relaxation. I know, I feel that way every day whether I grocery shop or not. Life gets busy and exhausting at times and this is when we choose to focus on what’s most important. One of the worst things I hate about being a consumer is when I forget stuff that I need to get done or even worse leave behind at the grocery store. […]

Travelling Tips You’ll Want To Read Before Boarding : The Saturday Weekend Review #158

DON’T MAKE TRAVELLING MISTAKES YOU’LL REGRET   Traveling around the world was on my bucket list in my 20’s and although I’ve been to many places such as Iceland, Thailand, Spain and Portugal (just to name a few) I’ve learned a few travelling tricks along the way.  I always made sure to arm myself with all securities because the last thing I needed was to end up dead, injured, stranded or without my valuables because I made the wrong choices. Travel insurance is a must when you are travelling out of country anywhere, even to the USA. At the least talk to your insurance company to see if you need additional coverage. If you think nothing can happen, think again. Friends of ours recently went travelling to Mexico for a 2 week holiday after celebrating their first wedding anniversary. They actually got married in Cuba but thought travelling to different destination spots every time they vacationed made more sense. I don’t blame them because the last thing I’d want to do is travel to the same resort or country over and over unless I wasn’t finished with the original trip. In most cases you may have more tourist spots that […]

How Distraction Theft Will Make You Their Next Win : The Saturday Weekend Review #140

DO YOU TALK TO STRANGERS?   It doesn’t matter where you are distraction theft seems to be the hottest way for thieves to steal what you own these days. It’s not a new way for thieves to get your stuff but it sure does seem as if it has been revived. I wonder if scammers are running out of ideas or maybe this is the easiest way without much effort involved. A few years ago a friend of ours told us how her daughter was almost the victim of distraction theft while studying at a local coffee shop. On the table she had her Apple iphone and wallet along with her school books like most students would. A customer who had just purchased a coffee came up to her and asked a question looking for directions. While responding to him and looking out the window pointing she caught him trying to steal her cell phone. She said to her mom, “The guy had his hand on my phone so I removed it and put it in my backpack”. He apparently laughed it off saying that it was a habit because he had an iphone as well which he pulled from […]

What pushes people over the edge financially?

FALLING ON HARD TIMES…   We all know someone who has struggled financially at some point in their lives and although it’s not easy to stay above the water how some people handle it is shocking. It seems like each time September rolls around the media is filled with articles about people who are getting into trouble with the law for reasons relating to money. Financially holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas can be a tough time for people who struggle with their money. Many struggle in silence. It’s no wonder talking about personal finance is taboo especially if people are ashamed of their debt load. This time of year it seems as if we hear more about thefts, robberies, fraud and scams leading into the Christmas holiday. Just the other day on Facebook my wife read a message on a group board from a mom advising other moms to make sure they lock their doors and take their gifts inside as someone had broken into her car and she lost everything. It only took me a few minutes online this morning to read another article about a couple who faked a pregnancy so they could steal products from an […]

Reader Question: Do I need a tenants insurance policy when I rent?

It Pays To Do Your Research When You Rent   A reader question about tenants insurance and whether you need it or not if you are a renter is a great question especially for those of you who are still not insured. The most important tip I would give is to read the terms and conditions before you agree to anything. One thing many of us do is sign on the dotted line or agree to a policy without reading it in full until it comes time that you might need it and find out you’re not covered. Dear Mr.CBB I’m moving out of my parents house for the first time into my apartment and was wondering if you could answer a question for me please. Do I need a tenants insurance policy when I rent? Thanks for any help you can give me. SG Dear SG, The easy answer is, Yes. Any time you rent an apartment, condo, town-house or house you need tenants insurance also called Renters Insurance. No matter what you think, you need it and don’t ignore the value of a cost-effective insurance policy. According to Insurance In Canada, Many Canadians 35 and under don’t have tenants insurance. When […]
