How I Turned Grocery Shopping Into A Daddy Vacation : The Grocery Game Challenge 2017 #3 July 17-23

WHEN GROCERY SHOPPING BECOMES THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR DAY.   Parenthood is more than just having a baby, it’s about finding ways to keep sane in a busy world of dirty nappies, feedings, work and lack of sleep. Things have changed as they should since we’ve become parents especially for myself since our son wants to do everything with me. If you could imagine me coming home from work and attacked by a toddler while Mrs. CBB waves and says, “have fun” that’s how it all goes down. At times he’s like a television that has no off button but I appreciate his inclination to learn and talk non-stop from the time he wakes up until he falls asleep again. It hasn’t been until the last year or so that we are really feeling the push from dealing with the terrible two’s. I read a meme that stated how parents who go grocery shopping alone attribute the experience to a vacation. Mrs. CBB laughed because some of the other moms she chats with has said the same thing. I wanted to see if I got that same vacation feeling so I put myself up for the daddy vacation challenge. When […]

3 Grocery Games I Play With Our Son While Shopping : The Grocery Game Challenge 2017 #5 Mar 27-Apr 2

GROCERY SHOPPING WITH YOUR TODDLER CAN EASILY BECOME A REWARDING LIFE SKILL FOR THEM.   Parents who bring their kids grocery shopping know how important it is to keep them occupied. The last thing any parent wants is to have their children throw tantrums at the grocery store. It only prolongs the grocery shop and adds stress to what could be a fun shopping trip of grocery games. Growing up my siblings and I would goof off at the grocery store and not give much notice to the food that surrounded us. In essence we kept each other busy which seems like a parenting win although my parents missed a valuable opportunity to educate us about where we were, what we were doing there and why it was important. Missed opportunity means- you can’t get the time back but you can certainly get back into the game when needed. It was too late for us kids as we eventually stayed home and played while our parents went grocery shopping. As I got older I found grocery shopping to be relaxing and fun for me because it puts me in a happy place. I love to cook and to me food really […]

How We Deal With Rude People At The Grocery Store : The Grocery Game Challenge 2016 #2 May 9-15

WHEN YOU JUST WANT TO SCREAM DO THIS INSTEAD AND WATCH THEM CRUMBLE.   I don’t know what it is lately but I seem to be running into rude people everywhere I go. The worst shoppers are at the grocery store especially once Spring finally arrives. It’s as if life is super-charged in the fast-lane when the sun is shining and the white stuff has melted. I’m a happy guy and my wife is generally always smiling because we choose to be happy. We’re not perfect but we channel negativity in such a way that we work on it and find other outlets to deal with it. I understand that some people have “issues” to deal with but taking frustrations out on other people over things you can’t control seems a bit…um, “out there”. It doesn’t matter what time of day you go grocery shopping or what store you choose to spend your money at, you’ll always run into rude people. The last thing you want to worry about or even think about is getting into a heated argument at the grocery store. It’s just groceries, not a grocery game.
