Thrift Store Back To School Clothes Are Still New Clothes

Back To School Shopping: In With The Old Out With The New   Back to school is typically associated with buying new school clothes and supplies only because we’ve been sucked in by a mass marketing system. The further we get pulled the more we believe and want rather then simply spending money because it’s a need. As soon as August rolls around the Back to School deals start showing up in the local flyers and media because they want parents to get ready ahead of time. With many families struggling to get ahead financially spending a fortune on school clothes is just out of the question. Then again you might be a parent who buys a new wardrobe year after year to go to work. Why is there this need to always wear something new or different? I’m pretty sure most people spend their time worrying about other things rather than what John or Suzie wore to work. Maybe clothing is the next step up the career ladder and if Suzie dresses better than Sarah she’s a shoe-in. Sounds daft BUT this really does happen. We put too much emphasis on what people wear rather than what their skills […]

4 Simple Shopping Improvements To Battle Food Price Increases : The Grocery Game Challenge 2016 #1 Dec 5-11

WITH FOOD PRICE INCREASES ON THE HORIZON IT’S IMPORTANT TO TAKE ACTION NOW SO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW YOU PLAN TO TACKLE YOUR GROCERY EXPENSES.   When consumers distress about money the first two things that pop up are groceries and utilities followed by rent/mortgage, taxes and insurance. These are not always fixed costs which means they can fluctuate thus causing potential problems with budgeting. You are in charge of the outcome. If you have a budgeted amount to spend you must stick to it or cause potential losses to other budget categories even in the face of food price increases. Just because food prices go up that doesn’t mean your budget should increase as well. Most people just don’t have the spare cash to do so. It’s already a struggle for manyCanadians who can’t keep up with current food prices and balancing the budget. Mary, a financially savvy woman who has been a part of this blog since 2012 and participates in the Grocery Game Challenge understands the struggles. I agree with what she had to say on the topic of looming food price increases. Increasing your grocery budget assumes you have the extra cash to do so. I’m having […]

In 1 Minute This 10-year-old Educated The World About Materialism : The Saturday Weekend Review #184

NO ONE WILL REMEMBER THE NAME BRANDS YOU WEAR BUT THEY WILL REMEMBER THE TYPE OF PERSON YOU ARE.   I took one minute out of my evening to watch a wise 10-year-old kid teach everyone around the world why America is addicted to materialism and what matters the most. The thing is, it’s not just American’s who have a problem with spending more than they earn, it’s a world-wide dilemma. Some say the next generation is going to hell in a handbag but I beg to differ because logic doesn’t skip over everyone and all it takes is one person to build an army of people who believes in him/her.   Wear what you like   What’s incredible here is that a 10 year-old boy has such a powerful message to deliver that I’m betting most adults wouldn’t dare take on. It’s easy to warm up to this kid and want to listen to him because it’s clear he’s confident and in charge of the situation. It doesn’t matter if you wear Jordans, Vans, Nike, Fila or Joe Fresh what matters is that you wear what you like. If you’re looking for your next president we should keep an […]
