Sweetheart Cinnamon Cookies (Low Carb) (Sugar Free)

SIMPLE COOKIES MADE WITH LOVE AND KISSES OF CINNAMON.   Who doesn’t love the taste and smell of cinnamon? Every time I walk through a mall with a Cinnabon shop where they make the most delicious smelling cinnamon buns I get weak at the knees. These soft cinnamon cookies are low-carb and perfect as breakfast cookies with a hot beverage or a snack throughout the day. Best of all they are sugar-free. If you or someone you know enjoys a low-carb high-fat lifestyle these Sweetheart Cinnamon Cookies make the best homemade gifts. With Valentine’s Day in the next few days go ahead and spread some low carb love and bake up a batch even if they are for yourself. This recipe for soft cinnamon cookies use both almond flour and coconut flour for texture and flavour purposes. Both the almond and coconut are a low carb flour and used in many dishes along with lupin flour. Lupin flour is produced by drying and grinding the lupin bean. You may also know these as lupini beans (rubbery outside skin) you can buy in cans at the grocery store in the International aisle. We have yet to try lupin flour but may […]

Free love with a post-it note no calendar required- The Saturday Weekend Review #59

LOVE DON’T COST A THING   The written form of love even on a post-it note is easy on the wallet and the heart will embrace your uniqueness. Not everyone is comfortable sharing their feelings so writing them down is a great way to express love. No, I’m not busting out into the Jennifer Lopez tune telling the world to put the money away because it’s not what love is all about, but in a way I am. I’m sure you’ve heard enough about Valentine’s Day and how much money men and women spend around the world for this one day every year. Sickening really, to see how we put a date on love and romance when every day should be filled with expressions of love. I wasn’t going to write anything about Valentine’s Day this year because, frankly I didn’t have anything to say that I hadn’t said before. Related: Budgeting for Love on Valentine’s Day I was contacted by The Brighter Life who wanted my Valentine’s Budget ideas so I fired them off in an email and they shared my thoughts on their website yesterday for the world to see. You will notice none of it entails spending […]

Not everything online is free for the taking: PF Weekly Grab a brew #59

ASK BEFORE YOU TAKE   Be careful what you post online because someone might just think they can use it for free. In fact, it’s true many people do share information online but fail to credit the original owner. Granted, mistakes happen. Could you imagine pouring your heart and soul into a work of art or a hobby of yours online only to have someone take it and use it to make a profit? They are making money… yes dollars off of your skill. I read somewhere once that if you have a skill and are good at it don’t do it for free. What happens if someone just takes it though? You go after them, that’s what you do. Is it worth it to you though? That’s your decision. So why is it ok that someone thinks they can take something that a skilled person created and posted online and use it to make money for themselves? Greed? Maybe.   Protect your stuff   It happens all the time and it’s why I always suggest to try to protect any work that you put online so you have proof that you are the original owner of that work. The […]

Do you know the laws when travelling abroad? : PF Weekly Grab a brew #58

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS   Do you really read about the laws of the country you are about to visit when travelling abroad? Shaking your head no, don’t worry me neither. I’ve been to many countries around the world in the 30 odd years I’ve been around and Canada was the only place that I did. To be honest the laws of each destination that I visited weren’t something that crossed my mind although it really should have been. Before I became a permanent resident in Canada I did look into the laws of the road and driving and how I would be insured since I was visiting from abroad only because my wife had brought it to my attention. It’s important to know what your rights are and whether your insurance will cover you in the event of an accident but also what the laws of the country are involving certain situations such as the horror described below. I was disturbed to read an article earlier this week about Canadian Justine Davis from Toronto who was travelling through Cuba with her three-year old son. While on a rented scooter just before this past Christmas they were involved in an accident […]

Frugal Ways To Say I Love You This Valentine’s Day

WILL YOU BE MY FRUGAL VALENTINE?   February 14 may be Valentine’s Day but that doesn’t mean you have to break the bank to say, I LOVE YOU. Valentine’s Day is one of the most commercialized times of year next to Christmas in my opinion. Romance is in the air this time of year and when you walk into any shop you will know why. Everything from chocolates, fragrances, jewellery,  lingerie, sexy lotions and potions to unique Valentine’s Day gifts such as furry slippers and cupid shaped candles scream at you to buy me, buy me, I’m the one. Personally we don’t bust the budget on Valentine’s Day because every day is a special day in our relationship. Yes, OK it sounds cheesy but it’s true. That doesn’t mean we can’t plan something romantic for each other. If your woman says she doesn’t want anything for Valentine’s Day, don’t take it literally, do something or risk her heart being broken even if is a hand-written note. In my experience, I’ve found some women anxiously await what their significant-other has planned for them; but wait a minute, Valentine’s is not just for women. I wonder if women realize how stressful it can be for […]

Forever is just the beginning to a Healthy New You! Baby Steps, baby steps, you can do it, the words of our support system. We have ended week 2 quitting smoking and thus far its been the best decision in our lives besides marrying each other. Aweeee… I know, I’m sweet that way! Have you ever considered quitting smoking? We had over the years but mostly my wife as I never thought I could do it. Most of the time the negative reasoning got the best of me and ended any further conversation on the subject. What thoughts were running through my head? I love smoking too much What will I do with my time What do you mean I smell, I don’t smell anything I don’t smoke much I can’t, I need it to relax after I eat, at work, in my truck Everyone I hang out with smokes, I can’t possibly quit What I was missing were 2 important facts; Smoking Kills! My father passed away while having Heart By-Pass Surgery Smoking costs a fortune at $30 a week you crunch the numbers. I know some couples that spend $150 a week…. OUCH! What side effects have we […]
