The Saturday Weekend Review #8 December

Saturday Week In Review Mr.CBB

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review

It’s Saturday and that means working late and sleeping in for me. The best part of waking up this morning was that last night I made Walnut and White Cheddar Biscuits a recipe from my mate Aunt B and they turned out amazing. The goal was to use them with my homemade Pulled Pork that I put in the crockpot this morning. Yep, the house smells.. well. porky!  I couldn’t take it any longer so I had to test a biscuit when I woke up this afternoon so I fried a couple eggs with a huge slice of ham and this is what it looked like…..

Ham and Egg On a Walnut White Cheddar Biscuit

So keep an eye out in the upcoming weeks for my homemade pulled pork recipe on the blog tucked in between the cushions of this lovely biscuit! Ok now that we have the food out-of-the-way this week I did alot of Christmas baking as you know….

I also went down to the Ministry of Transportation to pick up a $15 temporary sticker for our winter vehicle. On the way there some donut decides to run a red light and do a right hand turn as I’m going 80 up a highway (brilliant) hand on horn and Mrs. CBB could practically touch the car if she opened her window. Didn’t have a minute to live I guess. No accident thank goodness but if there was someone in my left lane things would not have had a happy ending I can assure you. (Anyhow…. while at the Ministry) Upon asking if there was a cheaper way to do this  to eliminate the cost of the temp sticker as we had to get an E-test first then come back and get the actual sticker.  She tells us, of course. Did you know that your E-test lasts for one year? Nope, I had no idea. We didn’t have all of this in the UK so it’s all new to me.  Now I know that I can get the E-test done before I park my vehicles that way I won’t have to waste $15 on a Temporary sticker (money grab ) just to drive the bloody thing to the garage to get an E-test (money grab) and back to the Ministry to get a sticker.  Everyone wants money…. and it’s only bound to get worse.

The Saturday Weekend Review #7 December

Saturday Week In Review Mr.CBB

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review

I didn’t get myself into any trouble this week although I haven’t made my way in to the kitchen for my Christmas Baking Marathon yet. The fun will all start today when we start baking 1 of 4 easy Christmas cookie recipes and I will share them every Sunday on the Blog in December. I suppose since the snow has decided to make its way to Ontario it’s time to swap vehicles. This always takes a day or so for me to sort out with insurance, e-test and getting a new sticker. Money, Money, Money everyone wants money. Pain in the ass if you ask me but hey I’m just a newbie! Time to put away my love machine for another season and take out the winter tank destroyer. Do you store your vehicle for the winter and bring out a winter beater?

What’s Been Happening at Canadian Budget Binder

Well, what hasn’t been happening.

I’ve been guest posting all over the shop so if you start seeing posts I wrote for some awesome blogs go ahead and give them a read. It’s not often I write so many in one month but November took me by storm. Some posts you have yet to see but will be coming out shortly for some amazing blogs and websites.

I do enjoy writing for other blogs and chatting to their fans. It brings a whole new meaning to learning what other Bloggers do and how their fans interact with their site. Many of my fans enjoy heading out to other sites I mention or link up to and some even wait until I post my weekly blog post list so they can run through them.

On a great note we can now deposit up to $5500 a year in our TFSA starting Jan 2013 up from $5000 thanks to the new rule change earlier this week as noted by the Department of Finance. I’m thrilled in one sense as I know we will eventually have the money once this house is actually paid (more on that later). I have a bit of catching up to do with my TFSA but aim to get that up to speed as soon as I can. Since moving to Canada trying to make heads and tails of a new country and all it has to offer has overwhelmed me but since blogging and travelling around Ontario it has made life that much easier.

Canadian Budget Binder- The Saturday Weekend Review #1

Mr.CBB’s  Saturday Weekend Review

Well, if you don’t already know I’ve participated this week in the B.C Welfare Food Challenge. This week has certainly been an eye opener for Mrs.CBB and I and I will have a final report about how this week went for us next week. I’ve just started to post some photos of the food I created from my $26 grocery budget for 1 on my Facebook page in the photos album so check them out.

I’ve also finished putting up the Christmas lights however I’m still stuck trying to find one small string to finish it off. I might as well say stuff it for this year as I don’t fancy spending more money on an additional 8ft of lights than I did on the other boxes I bought end of season.

We purchased our pumpkin for Halloween and it’s a small one but it’s just perfect. I’ll be the one in charge of the carving but I’m not one of those fancy carvers I just give it the ol’ 1,2,3 and stick a candle inside. I’ll post a picture after I have a stab at it and show you the results next week!

What do you do with your Halloween Pumpkin Design?

I’ve also started the raking the leaves process in our yard. Yes that’s my leg you see in this picture. I know I’m giving you one body part at a time but that will have to do. It’s the slow, sexy reveal, one body part at time or we can simply revert back to the watering can for all of you that remember that photo.

There is a method to my madness though don’t you worry. Next week I have a post for all of you about what I do with my leaves and why. I don’t put them to the curb, never have and never will. Don’t miss that post.

That’s about all that I did around the home front this week as I’ve been busy at work but I’m not complaining.  Who needs sleep anyways, right?

What’s Been Happening at Canadian Budget Binder

Another awesome announcement is that my mate Steve Zussino over at Grocery Alerts has put out a FREE E-Book written by Lina his wife and himself. It’s a book that has listed the Top 100 Websites for Saving Money In Canada with Canadian Budget Binder topping the charts at #87.

Steve goes on to say in an email to me….

We included websites that give advice on investing, mortgage rates, insurance quotes, coupons, mobile deal websites, financial gurus, frugal living, retirement pros, consumer news, financial media, and personal blogs.

A big Thanks to Lina and Steve for including Canadian Budget Binder. Please click the link and download this Free E-book today!! It has all the great Canadian sites packed into one neat spot.

The blog has gotten so busy lately I’m hoping soon I can find a volunteer to help me out. Any takers? I’ve also opened the flood gates for “guest posts” so send me an email if you have something you want to share with my fans.

The Grocery Game Challenge-May14-20 Sweeping Up Savings!!

By: Canadian Budget Binder

Welcome back to your on-line grocery shopping Game!

I was unsure if we had killed the The Grocery Game Challenge budget in one blow this week and truly, WE DID! We planned our shop at several stores for this week although there was nothing over the top that we would rush out for. For the most part what we needed can wait another week or two.

Here are the Grocery Coupon Match-Ups from Save Big Live Better where you can also find your source for printable grocery coupons as well as Smart Source Printable Coupons.

Last Weeks Shop Left Us $2.09 to add to this weeks shop if needed…. yep we need it!

$82.70-$80.61=$2.09 left to spend this week!

So to start this weeks shop we have the $64.00 weekly grocery budget and the $2.09 for a total of $ 66.09 to spend this week.

I want to touch on the subject of food and the budget as most people seem to forget it’s one of life’s biggest expenses. If you are not budgeting you should and like most will be astounded how much you actually spend each month on grocery items even if you use coupons.

If you are budgeting you know that if you owe any debt to anyone that you are in the red and need to save wherever you can. You are not saving anything when you owe people money. By playing The Grocery Game Challenge we hope to motivate you to stick to your budget and think of the end goal ~Debt Be GONE and Spending Less than you Earn!

You can check out my budgeting series that I have written for all my fans here at Canadian Budget Binder and see how setting goals and a budget will help you along the way to financial freedom. It only means making informed decisions, staying away from credit, and paying down your debt.  If you put your mind to it and stop making excuses you can do this. Always seek professional financial advice before starting anything that affects your finances that you are unsure of, I do and so should you.

Ok…on to this weeks shop….. sometimes the reduced sections gets the best of us and we stock up and this week we needed to stock up on meat.
