10 Pointers When Considering A Pay Cut For Career Change

NEVER GET USED TO THE MONEY YOU EARN   If I asked you whether you’d leave your current job for a new job that comes with a pay cut, what would you say? Most people would be on the fence not sure what to do and others might drop everything and dive right in. There are lots of things to consider before making a career change and it starts with the financials.   There’s no way I would take a pay cut   Sometimes you may have no option whether you get a pay cut or not so before you dismiss earning less money remember you are owed nothing and can lose it all in an instant. Perhaps a better way to view a pay cut is that it would take adjusting to but eventually it will work out. What does it mean to take a pay cut? It is what it is, a pay cut. It means you get less money for a job you perform whether it be your current job, a new role with-in a company or a 360 degree role change into something entirely new. It happens every day and to be honest more people need […]

10 Best Foods To Bulk Buy When On Sale : The GGC 2018 #1 June 4-10

WHEN THE PRICE IS RIGHT A BULK BUY MIGHT BE RIGHT FOR YOU   Doing a bulk buy doesn’t necessarily mean you need to make a pit-stop to your local bulk food store. The term bulk buy is all about stocking up but not stockpiling everyday essentials that will help lower your overall grocery budget. I’m sure you’re wondering if there is a difference between stockpiling and a bulk buy and the answer is yes and no depending on how you interpret the two. Stockpiling in my opinion is buying in mass quantity for current and future use similar to grocery store shelves or an emergency shelter. When you bulk buy it may be just one or a few items that you buy in large amounts to feed more people or to stretch until the next sale. Example: You buy 3 pounds of butter instead of 1 because it was on sale. If you were to stockpile it you’d have 20lbs of butter instead of 1lb. What does stockpile mean? Stockpile- noun   a large amount of food or goods that are kept ready for future use They have a stockpile of food that will last several months. – Cambridge […]

Summer Fresh Rhubarb Salad with Toasted Cashews

SALAD MAKING WITH THIS NEW WAY OF ENJOYING RHUBARB   Each year we have an abundance of rhubarb from our one plant that gives us 4 crops throughout the summer months. This season our new recipe is a colourful summer fresh rhubarb salad with fennel and other crisp vegetables topped with toasted cashews and tossed in a light sweet apple cider vinaigrette. YES, this salad is low-carb and perfect for the keto diet as rhubarb is low in carbs. Healthy salads are always part of our menu plan during the summer months so putting together salad combinations that are bright and unique with a homemade salad dressing always hits the spot. Summer salads in our kitchen almost always include a protein so pairing this gorgeous rhubarb salad with honey glazed BBQ’d Atlantic salmon was a hit. Mrs. CBB had a bit of her sugar-free syrup instead to keep the rhubarb salad and salmon dish keto friendly. Growing rhubarb has been an experience for Mrs. CBB and I only because she had never tried it before and I couldn’t believe how expensive it was to buy at the supermarket. Forget about buying organic as the price is even more pricier. What […]

Valid Dissatisfied Customer Concerns At Canadian Grocery Stores : GGC 2018 #5 May 28-June 3

Speak up, Move on or Take it! The choice is yours when it comes to being a dissatisfied customer.   Ultimately the responsibility of a well-run grocery store starts at the top of the chain and trickles down but if policies and procedures aren’t met the customers will let them know. The problem is, not all customers voice their opinions to the right people or at all. Grocery store employees deal with a variety of difficult customers but then dealing with angry customers over important issues that must be dealt with right away. I find there is a difference between difficult and angry because being difficult means you want something to happen and angry is because something has happened and you want it fixed.   The Dissatisfied Customer   In any case customers often have valid concerns about the places they grocery shop at and I wanted to know from my readers what bothered them the most about our Canadian Grocery Stores. This isn’t a post to bash any particular grocery store rather it is a way to hear what the customers have to say. Most often customers won’t say a darn thing but they sure as hell think it. […]
