Recipe type: Crock-pot
Cuisine: Dinner
Serves: 8
  • Steak Pieces (either in cubes or two big pieces mine weighed 0.410kg, which was ample)
  • ½ Onion finely chopped
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1pk Puff Pastry
  • 3 dashes Worcester Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Corn flour
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon of Butter
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)
  • ⅓ cup water (for de-glazing pan)
  • ⅓ cup flour (for rolling out pastry)
  • ½ cup water
  1. Chop onion fine and cut steak into bite size chunks.
  2. Add olive oil and butter to pan, add onion and steak and cook until onion has gone clear.
  3. Now crumble your stock cube into the pan and add Worcester sauce
  4. Once meat has browned add to crock-pot.
  5. De-glaze your pan with the water and use a wooden spoon to scrape the good bits off the bottom of the pan, then add this to your crock-pot.
  6. Now add ½ cup of water
  7. Leave on high for at least 3hrs or overnight on low in the crock-pot
  8. Thicken gravy with corn flour (add water to cornflour and stir so that corn flour becomes liquid)

  10. Dust counter with flour and roll out pastry. (there are two pieces of pastry in each packet you will need both)
  11. Roll out into rectangles and then cut into quarters.
  12. Place 1 heaping spoonful of stew onto the pastry.
  13. Whisk egg lightly, and use to go around the edges so that when you bring the pastry edges together they seal.
  14. Bring edges together and using a fork go round the edges pressing lightly.
  15. Repeat the process until you have used all the pastry and steak filling.
  16. Once finished place on a baking sheet that has been covered with baking parchment paper.
  17. Space them out so they do not touch each other. Approximately 4 on each baking sheet.
  18. Before placing them in the oven brush with egg (if allergic brush with milk) to give them a glaze.
  19. Then pierce top of pastry twice so steam can escape.
  20. Place in oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
