Recipe type: Dessert
Cuisine: Dessert
Serves: 12
  • 8oz flour
  • 6oz butter
  • 3oz caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup water (you just need to add a little at a time not the whole thing to make it a soft dough)
  • 1 small jar of your favourite jam
  • ⅓ cup icing sugar
  1. Mix together the flour and butter until it resembles bread crumbs.
  2. Then add the sugar and mix well.
  3. Add the egg and a little water and mix. You are best to add a little water at a time until the dough comes together.
  4. Put plenty of flour on your surface before rolling out. It needs to be thin but not too thick. Slightly thicker than a quarter.
  5. Cut into your desired shape. If you are using them as a tart shell grease your muffin pan and gently slide a large cut out circle into the pan.
  6. Then place a teaspoon of the jam into the tart shell.
  7. If you are doing the heart shapes, cut out two large heart and in one do a smaller one. Place the one without the other heart on a baking tray with parchment paper, then spread a little of the jam and put the other one on the top. Fill in the little heart with jam.
  8. Please in the oven for 15-20 minute (depends on your oven)
  9. Let cool as jam will be hot.
  10. When cooled sprinkle with icing sugar to decorate or you can leave it plain.
