Why Are Hospital TV Rental Costs Beyond Ridiculous? : The Saturday Weekend Review #248

WHEN YOU REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT A HOSPITAL TV IS TO A PATIENT THE COSTS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN AN EMERGENCY EXPENSE WELL SPENT.   When you’re in an all-white room in a not so comfy bed where not all patients are able to take care of themselves that hospital room becomes a very lonely world. For many patients and care-givers in Ontario the price of a hospital TV and WiFi is beyond over-priced and a topic I wanted to discuss with all of you. I’ve always been the first to say if you can’t afford it, don’t buy it but there are times in our lives where money is not the objective, life is. This is something that Mrs. CBB and I have learned through personal experience and just recently with my sick father-in-law who says, “You can’t bring money to the grave”.   Hook me up, but at what cost?   What I did learn recently is that not all hospitals in Ontario offer the same perks and prices for technology based services such as a hospital TV or internet. For example these are the charges for Wi-Fi at Hamilton Health Sciences hospitals yet the University Hospital in London, […]

The Ultimate Guide To Find Recipes For Free or Cheap: The Grocery Game Challenge 2016 #3 Nov 21-27

LET ME SHOW YOU ALL THE SECRET PLACES THAT RECIPES MIGHT BE TUCKED AWAY   Years ago the father would be the head of the household and go to work and the mother would be a stay at home mum who cooked, cleaned, grocery shopped, paid the bills and looked after the kids. Both are uniquely full-time jobs except the wife got to stay home which meant cooking meals from scratch was popular as were finding new recipes to create for family meal time. Picture the woman in the kitchen with her apron on and her family sitting at the dinner table while she serves the food. This was the image that was depicted back in the 50’s and 60’s but not everyone could afford to have a stay at home mother. This is a rare position these days although just because two parents go to work doesn’t mean the job doesn’t have to get done. We all need to eat which means we either create recipes, find recipes, eat out or buy convenience foods which I don’t care for myself. Juggling the role of working parents and homemakers is a tough job,(I know because I do this) but it […]

The Saturday Weekend Review #31: Homeless and living on $8.00 a day

A Few Dollars Can Go Further Than You Ever Imagined I don’t believe many people think about life as a homeless person, who would unless you were forced to. I honestly can’t imagine what life is like for homeless people but what I do know is many are skilled and many just want someone to give them a chance. There are times when people give up on themselves because others give up on them. Although we should fight for what we want sometimes the war is won and it’s hard to get back what you’ve lost without a miracle or perseverance of sorts. Homelessness is potentially caused for many reasons, one being lack of employment and somewhere to live. I was touched by kindness this morning when I watched a video on You Tube where a couple of guys who prank people and share it on their channel called Vitalyzd TV gave a homeless man a full makeover.  This was no prank though, it was real and it was uplifting for many people to watch, over 3 million so far on You Tube. To be honest I wasn’t going to watch it but something compelled me to just check it out. […]
