8 Costly Baking Ingredients To Include On Your Flyer Watch-List : The Grocery Game Challenge 2018 #3 May 14-20

STOCKING UP IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET WHAT YOU WANT FOR LESS   Walking down the baking aisle at the grocery store or even the bulk food shop is cringe-worthy at times when you start to see the prices of baking ingredients. Here’s the thing though, you have to understand that food costs money and eating well is possible on a budget but YOU must do the work to find the deals. If you are a savvy shopper you need a flyer watch-list which simply means a master list of products that you WILL use but are far more expensive than others you purchase. This means that you will keep an eye on prices for those products in particular because when the time¬† and price is right you should stock up. This is where a reserve fund or stockpile budget really comes in handy for the everyday consumer. Baking ingredients have always been higher to the consumer who values pre-made products over baking only because we see what we want to see when it comes to pricing. It’s far more convenient to buy a 6 pack of muffins for $5 rather than a bag of flour for $8 especially […]

The Most Expensive Canadian Grocery Stores To Shop At : The Grocery Game Challenge 2018 #4 Mar 26-Apr 1

YOU MAY NOT ALWAYS HAVE CONTROL OVER WHERE YOUR DOLLARS ARE SPENT BUT YOU CAN MINIMIZE THE IMPACT BY KNOWING YOUR OPTIONS.   Why would anyone want to know about the most expensive Canadian grocery stores to shop at? Well, it has been a hot topic on Canadian Budget Binder for a while now so I decided to talk about my experiences over the years. You may be saying, don’t shop there if it’s too expensive but how do you know if it is and what if there were no other options? Opinions will vary from person to person ranges from person but most likely because it’s easier to avoid them rather than waste your time going to them. The second reason is money is tight for almost all Canadians who are looking for ways to stretch their food dollars. Sometimes people suffer in silence financially when they’re stuck and others do what they have to do to earn some money just to live. This morning I read an article about how people are pan-handling on the streets of Toronto just to make ends meet since moving to Canada. It’s heart-breaking to read but poverty is out there whether you […]

Ultimate Grocery List and Tips for the Single Shopper : The Grocery Game Challenge #3 Apr 19-26, 2015

DINNER TONIGHT FOR ONE   When I was single I really wasn’t a huge fan of going to the grocery store without a grocery list. I don’t know what it was but if I didn’t plan my shops I felt like I was wasting more time than I needed to. Not many single men want to hang out at the grocery store although 10 years later I don’t mind it that much. Most of my single friends at the time would rather eat at a fast-food restaurant or buy already prepared meals which never really excited me. I had my own house at the age of 21 which means I had a kitchen so I had no excuse to be spending money eating out all the time. Over the years I’ve come to learn so much about grocery shopping that leaving the house without a list is like shopping without cash or credit cards. I’ve also learned how much I should buy and what types of foods work best for the healthy meal ideas I was creating. I was an avid traveller when I lived in the UK so everywhere I travelled I bought a cookbook. I made it my […]
