Easy Italian Pasta Frittata Pie

Are you tired of the same old pasta dinner? Well, I’ve got something totally different that will change the way you look at pasta.

Try this Italian Pasta Frittata Pie, filled with Sausage, and I promise it will become part of your family mealtime favorites.

The Italian Pasta Frittata Pie was inspired by my father-in-law, who also loved cooking and making homemade pasta.

This pasta pie is also called a “Frittata Di Pasta,” which makes it sound even more enticing with the Italian twist.

Don’t get confused by the name frittata, as this is not an omelet; it’s a pasta pie that is made with leftover pasta.

If you are scratching your head wondering if you can make this pasta frittata recipe at home don’t, it’s easy to make.

If you want food to bring to a picnic or party where you will be the talk of the table, this Italian Pasta Frittata Pie is a WINNER.

It’s not common to see pasta pies, and everyone wants to know what they are and how they can make them, at least when we serve them.

Customize Your Pasta Frittata Pie Like A Pizza

Customizing the pasta frittata is easy, and if you like, you can make smaller portions by using a smaller frying pan.

Personal-sized pasta frittata pies are for those who fancy ingredients beyond Italian sausage.

Pretty much anything you can get a pizza shop for a topping, you can add to your Italian Pasta Frittata Pie.

  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Italian Rapini
  • Pepperoni Slices
  • Cooked Bacon
  • Cooked Ham
  • Sweet Red, Green, Yellow, Orange Pepper
  • Cooked Sausage
  • Anchovies
  • Hot Peppers
  • Pineapple
  • Feta Cheese
  • Provolone Cheese
  • Pizza Sauce for dipping
  • Red Onions or caramelized onions
  • Mushrooms
  • Garlic
  • Black or Green Olives
  • Spinach or Kale
  • Crushed Red Pepper
  • Fresh Basil and other herbs

  • Hamburger
  • Pulled Pork
  • Meatballs
  • Proscuitto
  • Capicolla

Changing up the types of cheese you use is also a great way to swap out flavours for different meal plans.

The great thing about making Italian Pasta Frittata is that it’s easy to accommodate even the fussiest eater.

Who doesn’t like pasta anyway?

Italian-Sausage-2-

In this particular recipe, I used cooked Italian sausage that was spicy, but you don’t have to use hot if you don’t like it.

It takes hardly any time at all to make this, and it’s fairly inexpensive, making it economical for most families on a budget.

Serve hot or cold; add a nice tomato, fennel, and chickpea salad with fresh Basil alongside your Italian Pasta Frittata, cut into wedges like a pizza.

Parmesan_Cheese-Parmigiano-Reggiano

I like to sprinkle freshly grated authentic Italian Parmigiano Reggiano over the top just before serving it to my guests.

Pasta Pie Flipping Instructions

I made a Spanish Potato Tortilla using the same concept, which shows step-by-step how to prepare and flip the pie if you would rather see me in action.

Please take care with the flipping part of the recipe, as it can get a little hot; make sure you use a dishcloth and oven mitts.

I would recommend a heavy round dish or a charger plate that is bigger than the circumference of your frying pan, whilst flipping it over the sink.

Take your time there is no rush, once you flip the frying pan it should easily slide on the plate where you then slide it right back in the pan to cook the other side until golden brown.

If you can do this with another person present, in case you need assistance.

  • Serves: 10-12 people
  • Cook:  Medium heat on your stove-top
  • Cost: Between $8 and $9, depending on where you live and the cost of items. That’s about $0.75 each slice for a $9.00 pie.

You can also make it even cheaper by eliminating the meat and using just vegetables.

If you want to get fancy, you can add spinach or Italian rapini to the pie.

We’ve done it, as you will see in the photo below, and it tastes delicious and is nutritious for the whole family.

If you are on a keto diet and still want to make this Italian Pasta Frittata Pie, I suggest using NuPasta.

It works just as well and without all the car bs as we’ve made it for our family.

Tools:

  • large heavy frying pan
