Sexy Photo Fun Could End Up A Nightmare Of Revenge Porn – The Saturday Weekend Review #157

ONE OF THE EASIEST WAYS TO GO BROKE IS TO COMMIT A CRIME

What happens behind closed doors in an intimate relationship should stay closed to protect everyone involved.

For those who feel wronged in a relationship or with ulterior motives “revenge porn” may be their ticket to the last laugh or to cash in.

It could also be the worst mistake mentally, physically and financially one could commit if they are caught in such a situation.

Let’s not forget about the victim who has to suffer the consequences of their private life splattered on the internet for the world to see.

It’s a horrible situation and one that you must protect yourself from at all times even when you feel those butterflies.

Talk About Porn and Photography With Your Kids

The word “Porn” may be labelled a dirty word but it’s one of the biggest money-making industries in the world.

Nobody wants to talk about it nor read about it but it’s everyday people get caught up in crimes such as revenge porn.

Individuals who feel they have power over someone with pornography need to understand the consequences of their actions will not be tolerated by the law.

It’s also important for parents to discuss topics like this with their teenage children because they know about sex whether you choose to believe it or not.

Don’t get upset if you find out little Johnny or Jill was up to something you never thought he/she was capable of.

Most teenagers won’t let parents into their private lives outside of the home.

Teenagers may not grasp the consequences of what could happen if they were to get involved with posting explicit photos or videos that they shouldn’t be online.

These days just about every teenager owns a cell phone with access to a camera.

The teen porn industry is the biggest of them all.

Many of you reading today may be thinking what I am,”Don’t take explicit photos or video porn when in a relationship” and that it’s common sense not to post it on social media without consent.

Sometimes blind love can make some people do strange things when they are depressed over relationship issues even if it means hurting someone they once loved or still love.

Revenge Porn And Canadian Law

Revenge porn is the highlight of this post today and it’s a serious issue and growing concern with the ease of technology at our fingertips and cyber bullying.

Under the Criminal Code of Canada posting explicit images of someone online is now a criminal offense

This means if found guilty you could be sent to prison for up to 5 years or for a summary conviction 6 months in jail and a $5000 fine.

An Ontario man is paying the price for posting such intimate photos of his sometimes girlfriend on an online porn site in 2011.

The woman, known as Jane Doe464533, agreed under pressure from her ex-boyfriend to send him a sexually explicit video, after he promised he wouldn’t show it to anyone. That very day, in the fall of 2011, he posted the video on an Internet pornography website, titling it “college girl pleasures herself for ex boyfriends delight,” and showed it to his friends.

Think about these questions for a moment.

  • Are you that angry at your ex that you would risk going to jail for posting porn of them online?
  • Would you risk emptying your savings account to pay for huge fines if you lose your court case?
  • What about jail time and losing your job? What if this is a young teenager that is caught?

You shouldn’t even have to think about answering those questions but when couples split up and if it was not amicable sometimes the heart takes over. That my friends can get you into BIG trouble with the law.

You may think what you are doing is funny or vindictive but once the curtain cools down I’m pretty sure you’ll wonder why you didn’t smack yourself in the head a few times for being such an idiot.

Intimate Images

Defining an ‘intimate image’

The Criminal Code defines an intimate image as being one in which the subject is nude, partially nude, or engaged in explicit sexual activity. – Yahoo News Canada Daily Brew

The days of picking up a phone to talk it out when in a relationship or ending one are gone because the smartphone is now the middle-man/woman.

Texting is an easy way out.

We have to be aware of how much power we are allowing these smartphones to have over our lives.

Leave your cameras and phones at home for a few days and see how free you will feel from technology.

Trusting Your Partner With Porn Images

Every relationship is different and some couples may have a kinky side and with the ease of a smartphone a simple porn photo or video can turn nasty if the porn is released to the public.

Sometimes it’s a simple case of show me yours and I’ll show you mine and the video could be rolling while on webcam or you send porn to arouse your partner.

Cameras are so small these days an unsuspecting person might not even know they are being filmed but later find out they are highlighted on some porn site.

Then I questioned If a couple wants to take photos or video:

  • Is a verbal agreement enough and if so does that need to be done before, during or after having sex?
  • Does it also have to be written, recorded or have a third-party witness?

None of the above really.

It may seem funny but technology sure has put a dent in reality.

Things seem to get complicated these days.

“The other part of that definition is that at the time the photo or video was taken, there was some circumstances that led to a reasonable expectation of privacy, at least in the mind of the person in the photo or video,”-Kevin O’Shea Legal Advocate Canada via Yahoo News link above

None of those options are good enough for me especially if we are relying on “reasonable expectation of privacy” which in all honesty most people would expect.

Always “Innocent until proven guilty though” not an excuse, just the truth.

According to a Yahoo Daily Brew online article, in a civil court case the burden of “Proof is lower and is based on a balance of probabilities“.

I simply would not get involved with this situation with anyone, not even my wife.

Tell me again what the divorce rate is in Canada and how many of you who did get divorced thought they would never get divorced?

Exactly.

I’m not saying I will BUT you always need to protect yourself.

It’s all in good bedroom fun but the good times can take a swift turn in the other direction if you decide to break-up and one partner is jealous or wants to get “even” for cheating, lying or whatever the case may be.

The Ontario woman won her civil court hearing and the ex-boyfriend was ordered to pay her $141,708.00 (Far more than the $5000) because of “Revenge porn“.

That figure includes the court costs, damages and interest.

Cyber-Bullying Revenge Porn

Is this a form of cyber-bullying?

I’d say 100% yes and with the recent passing of the Cyber Bullying law everyone should think twice before sharing intimate images online without consent.

Bullying can be a traumatic experience, and some forms of bullying can even be considered illegal. These include:

  • Threats of death or serious bodily harm – whether done face to face, online, over the phone or through text messaging.
  • Criminal Harassment – repeated tormenting online, with texts, phone calls and/or emails causing the other person to fear for their safety.
  • Distribution of intimate images without consent – Sharing naked or sexual pictures of another person without their consent (also known as “revenge porn”).
  • Assaults – including pushing, tripping, slapping, hitting or spitting.

Some people may think that it’s no big deal to have a bit of porn spread online if they were receiving that kind of damage money BUT that’s far from the point.

The trauma of these actions can be compared to being “Sexually assaulted” according to Judge David Stinson.

“This case certainly ought to send a strong message,” McConchie said in an interview with Yahoo Canada News.

There will always be a case to set a precedent in the court system and even though we can see how damaging posting revenge porn can be many will continue to do this because they think, “They’ll never get caught”.

Keep the camera out of the bedroom and anywhere near your sex life if you don’t want the stress of knowing that your personal life could be uploaded online.

You may think that a little harmless porn won’t cause any problems in your relationship but it may.

Most couples believe that taking porn photos is erotic and a great way to reminisce about their loved ones if they are in a long-distance relationship or for alone time pleasure.

Find another way to motivate yourself.

Most times I think that couples are in the heat of the moment when one or the other partner comes up with a bright idea to video or take porn photos.

I believe that in an already steamy environment it’s easy to let our guard down and allow such actions to take place. Don’t!

I’m not one to write about porn but this is important because of one stupid move and you could be paying for the rest of your life if you are caught and convicted of such a crime in Canada.

If you are on the receiving end of the revenge porn you may get a settlement in a court case but that will never take away the damage of an intimate moment you shared with someone you once loved or thought you loved.

Porn Industry Gone Wild

I was watching a Netflix documentary last week about young teens in the amateur porn industry called Hot Girls Wanted because this is not something you get to watch every day.

You get a glimpse into that secret life of unsuspecting teenagers who may be University grads, valedictorians or have scholarships who choose to do porn for money.

It was quite disturbing to watch but it’s reality and it’s everywhere.

What also interested me was the staggering number of traffic porn sites get daily-millions.

They surpass just about everything in media land.

My conclusion:

Young and vulnerable but this is why it’s so important for parents to talk to their kids about porn before it’s too late like the parents in the documentary who were saddened by their teen daughters choice to give up College for porn.

The money was always the most important part for the teens because clearing $900 cash in 5 hours is like waving a chocolate bar in front of a child.

Others liked it because they felt a sense of family with the other girls and they were free from their parents who seemed to control their lives.

The young girls and guys that fall into the money trap think that this will last forever, it won’t and neither will the money.

From what I saw many called what they did a “Job” and nothing more but for others it’s considered a form of prostitution.

Getting paid to have sex and now Sugar babies for Sugar daddies is the new rage.

The problem is if the sex industry is making money then nothing will stop it.

Even if porn photos or porn video footage is leaked you can’t guarantee that it hasn’t been downloaded.

That can multiply fast and in some instances go viral online.

You’ll never get rid of the porn you create once it is uploaded or downloaded anywhere on the web.

If you decide with your partner to play out a fantasy of photographing personal amateur porn photos or videos be aware that if it does end up online that it will be seen by thousands if not millions of people.

There are people out there that do this to men and women who are not aware they are being filmed and those that are.

There’s nothing wrong with education in regards to real-life situations that could literally alter your life or that of your children.

CBB Week At A Glance

This week we went swimming with our boy but that didn’t last too long as he’s getting bored with it.

He is such an active child that being in the water is not good enough for him.

He wants to run free and burn off the energy I wish I had.

After the pool, we went to the library to read and learn with the computer touch screen education tools.

It was a great afternoon considering he had his 16-month shots this week.

He did very well.

On the work front, nothing much has changed as I’m still busy.

With winter being here there is not much to do outside apart from shovelling and when I do get home there’s not much time for renovations so that’s all on hold until the Spring and Summer when I get free time.

In the kitchen, we experimented with making sugar-free, low-carb peanut butter coconut cream cheese fudge with chocolate which is coming to the blog soon.

Don’t miss it. Even I couldn’t tell the difference.

I’m also going to be sharing my homemade taco seasoning mix with all of you.

We make it about once a month as we use it quite often in our cooking. It’s easy to make as long as you have the spices in your pantry.

Save the packets and go with homemade and no added ingredients that you can’t understand.

How was your week?

Food and grocery shopping is a BIG part of CBB because food is a large part of the budget which people struggle the most with.

If you are someone who would rather buy convenience meals or products consider cooking homemade meals or baking from scratch.

Not only will you save money but you will be proud of what you’ve accomplished and you’ll see that from the smiles on those you feed.

For the past 2 years, I’ve had a second Facebook page called The Free Recipe Depot where I exclusively share recipes from Food Bloggers around the world.

I also share recipes on the blog on Sunday either made by the home cook and mom Nicola Don or myself.

This week our Top Recipe Pick goes to a blog called Family Savvy where I found these amazing Strawberry Brownies.

If you know me then you know how much I adore brownies.

I can’t wait to try this recipe out.

Top DIY Project

Today I found a very cool project that you can take on if you have some tire rims hanging around the house.

Check out this DIY Wood Stove made from Tire Rims. Very cool and easy enough to make.

Please head on over and give the post a read and let them know that Mr. CBB sent you if you comment. Thanks.

Editor’s pick (That’s me Mr.CBB) this week goes to Michael James On Money who was shocked to receive a bill from Rogers Wireless for $6668.49 only to find out it was Identity theft.

Find out how this happened to him and I agree that credit is given out too freely. This is a classic example.

  1. Nice idea for making stove from old rims, but it is not easy made, I showed this to my hubby and he maid it but it doesn’t look so nice like yours. He told me that yours are welded by some professional and paint job was also made by professional!

  2. Oh God. I am glad that there is a law regarding porn like this. I have never shared porn material and never use it against others. We know the effect if a nude photo of someone spreads on the Internet. It really has a big impact on the emotional and psychological side of the person affected. The penalty of the crime is really and seriously grave.

  3. I read about that court case for the revenge porn…. So much of that kind of crap going on online now it is truly scary. A lot of it is without permission and the after effects of that have proven deadly to the girls. I’m not a fan of having my picture taken with clothes..there is no way in God’s Green Earth there is going to be a camera around me without clothes!!!! Even if someone’s picture was taken with permission there are way too many ways for it to go public without your knowledge. Nasty all around in my books.
You would think it is common sense but time has proven that common sense just isn’t that common any more..sadly.
Your little man is quite the busy bee !!! It is tough in the winter to let them run around outside to burn off that energy safely. He is still a little young to start swimming lessons but he will enjoy those in time. At his age it’s getting used to the water and he is there now.
Nicola sure finds some nice deals!! Those strawberry brownies look interesting. Might have to give them a really good look over. That Rogers bill was something else!!! Nice to know Rogers has a fraud section, says something I’m not sure is entirely good. Seems to be easy to get an account with them without them checking things too much. We have a shredder here and we use it. I still have some stuff to run through it from hubby going through his files. It’s not real heavy duty so I only run it for a few minutes at a time. Things get done eventually. I hear about things like this Rogers bill and wish we still had a burn barrel for the shredded bits.
    Have a good weekend!

    1. Hi Christine,
Yes with technology at our fingertips we’ve become victim to the evils of the internet and more. Life may have become easier but it certainly didn’t make life any better per say. I think this court case will send a message out there that this type of behaviour will not be dealt with lightly. Best course of action is to stay away from cameras and video.
Yes he’s getting bored of the water but we keep bringing him twice a month rotating with the gym and library. We are counting the days until Spring. I loved those brownies and I will make them this summer. The only thing I didn’t much care for was the boxed cake so I want to try and make my own cake mix for the brownie instead. There are lots of great brags on CBB. Hopefully you can send one in too of some of those great bargains you find across the way. Have a great weekend Christine. 🙂 Back to work I go.

      1. Yea, I’m not big on cake mixes either, I think I will go scouting through Pinterest and such to see what I find to replace the boxed mix. If I find anything good I’ll let you know…

        1. Yes please do. I can make a vanilla cake no problem from scratch but I’ve never made a strawberry cake unless I just add in mashed strawberry to the batter?

          1. Might work..but you would likely need more flour to deal with the extra liquid. Unless you used the berries as part of the liquid. Worth trying!

          2. Yes that makes sense otherwise it won’t rise. You could do that as well. I’ve made many strawberry muffins before from scratch as well other fruits so I’m going to wing it and see what happens. Now i just need a sale on strawberries. I find produce this time of year to be rubbish.
