These days you’ll find the words, “Keto, Gluten-Free, Low-Carb, Paleo” on lots of products, but are they really?

There was a time where I would eat huge bowls of Quaker Harvest Crunch, now I make homemade keto granola.

This recipe for keto granola that we created is so versatile that we can change the flavours with each batch that we make.

For instance, one week we can make a peanut butter keto granola recipe which boasts hints of peanut flavour.

Adding PB and Me which is powdered peanut butter to our granola that it keeps it crunchy and offers better consistency over pre-made peanut butter.

It’s also lower in fat and calories too which is not a bad thing when you are working to burn fat for fuel and keep your body in ketosis.

Also, add some organic cacao nibs for more crunch and to turn your keto granola recipe into peanut butter and chocolate.

Always compare prices if you are on a tight budget.

I’ve added the number of carbs you’ll find in a 1oz portion to some of the nuts below to give you an idea.

Sugar Substitutes- Keto Recipe Granola

Crunchy-Keto-Granola-Recipe (1)We’ve made this granola recipe in various ways over the past 6 months adding a variety of sugar-free syrups.

You can purchase sugar-free syrups online at Amazon Canada, Marshall’s Canada, Winner’s, Starbucks and Home Sense.

Some of our favourites are made with Splenda or Stevia but we steer clear of anything made with maltitol.

As everything sweet always use products in moderation as all you need are hints of sweetness.

For those of you not on a keto diet, you can use honey, agave, granulated sugar, brown sugar or any other sugars that you like.

There are many different sugar-free varieties you can choose from but we mainly use Torani or Skinny Syrup.

Sugar Substitutes For Keto

You’ll also notice I used Sukrin Gold Brown Sugar for this recipe which is a must in my books.

Sukrin Gold should be in all keto pantries and although the price is high at $19.99 lb you get a big bang for your buck.

You can also buy a Swerve Brown Sugar and Krisda Brown Sugar for this granola recipe.

Erythritol is always in our house in granular form and we grind it in our coffee grinder for most keto recipes for a smooth texture.

Monk fruit is also a great product.

Just remember the costs of buying keto products pre-made vs making them yourself.

Ways To Enjoy Keto Granola

Easy-Crunchy-Keto-Granola-broken-in-bitsOne of my favourite ways to eat this keto granola is with unsweetened almond milk along with some strawberries, raspberries or blueberries.

You can add this keto granola recipe once crumbled on top of your thick Greek yogurt.

I even bring a handful or two of this keto granola recipe in a container to work to munch on as a snack throughout the day.

How to Make Keto Granola

Crunchy-Keto-Granola-Recipe-2We used a mix of cacao butter and salted butter but if you don’t have cacao butter just add more butter.

Also, if you don’t fancy using whole eggs you can use egg whites but you will need to double the whites as you’ll read in the recipe.

If you want your keto granola to be crispy make sure to spread it out thin and press it tightly into the corners.

Bake it until crispy then let sit in the oven overnight with the oven off.

If this recipe is too much you can cut it in half as well add what other ingredients you’d like or take some away.

I love this recipe!

Break the granola up in the morning into pieces. If you are adding and dried fruit now is the time to mix them in.

You can store the keto granola in air-tight containers, jars or plastic zip bags in your freezer for 6 months.

We like it cold so we take out as much as we need as it doesn’t freeze together.

You should get approximately 14 portions, 1/3 cup, Carbohydrates- 8.0g, Protein 7.5g, Fibre 4.6g Fat 23.7, Sugar 1.6g

Other than that it’s pretty straight-forward.

Making a crunch keto granola recipe is fairly easy to do and perfect for topping on your favourite yogurts or to use as a snack or cereal with almond milk.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup almonds whole or sliced
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup toasted coconut chips
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/2 cup black chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup flax seed milled or whole
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  • 1cup brazil nuts chopped
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons of cacao butter (or use butter) melted
  • 1/2 cup Sukrin Gold
  • 1/2 cup ground erythritol
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Torani sugar-free caramel syrup (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt or pink salt
  • 3 large eggs or 6 egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract
  • 1/4 cup cold water
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 220 degrees
  2. On a large baking sheet add parchment paper
  3. In a small bowl add your butter and cacao butter and microwave until melted then let cool
  4. In a large bowl add all of your dry ingredients and mix
  5. Add the eggs or egg whites, water, extracts, sweetener, and sugar-free syrup. If you choose not to use the syrup you may want to add more ground sweetener or leave it as is.
  6. Mix everything until combined
  7. Spread as thin as you can on the parchment paper and press down tightly. The thinner it is the crispier it will be.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes or until set then turn the oven off and leave it in there overnight.
  9. In the morning break your granola into bits as big or small as you’d like.
  10. Add any dried fruit and store in an air-tight container in the freezer.
