Discover the secret to making a high protein-packed Starbucks-inspired Salted Caramel Cold Brew Proffee at home. It is a delicious and refreshing coffee treat.
How To Make Starbucks Cold Brew Coffee
Making Starbucks cold brew at home is easy if you have the necessary kitchen tools.
Years ago, we created a viral Iced Dalgona Cold Brew Coffee, which is delicious, but we failed on the cold brew part.
We thought cold brew was cold coffee, but it’s not.
However, cold brew is easy to make and always have in your refrigerator.
You will need the following items to make Starbucks Cold Brew Coffee.
- Cold Brew Filter System (I detail this purchase below)
- Starbucks Coffee
- Filtered Water
- Pot or Kettle to boil
You need their caramel coffee or syrup to make a Starbucks Salted Caramel Cold Brew.

- Torani Salted Caramel Sauce
- Matteo Sugar-Free Salted Caramel Syrup
- Torani Salted Caramel Syrup
- Starbucks Caramel Coffee
- Starbucks House Blend Coffee (I used this brand to make my cold brew)
- Starbucks Caramel Syrup
- Flaked Sea Salt to add if caramel has no salt added
- Starbucks Cold Brew Concentrate – Just add water is another option to skip the brewing process.
What Is Proffee?

Proffee is a cold or hot beverage of coffee and protein, making it the perfect start to your day.
Adding Premiere Vanilla protein powder or a protein drink, such as a high-quality chocolate or vanilla Fairlife protein shake, to unsweetened or sweetened cold brew with ice cubes.
You can also purchase Fairlife protein shakes at Costco, although cases of 24 sell out quickly.

Whipped Cream Or Topping- Salted Caramel Cold Brew Proffee
Some people like to add a splash of heavy whipping cream or whipped cream to the top.
For example, if you make a copycat Starbucks salted caramel cold brew using protein powder or a pre-made shake, top it with whipped cream and caramel sauce.
You can also use Fairlife high-quality protein milk, made in Canada with Vanilla Whey Premiere Protein Powder, salted caramel cold brew with syrup, and whipped cream.
Add salted caramel syrup if your Starbucks cold brew is unsweetened like the one I used.
Making a Starbucks Salted Caramel Cold Brew Proffee can be sugar-free.

Other Flavours Cold Brew To Make At Home
Making Starbucks cold brew or coffee at home is a massive budget saver and very popular.
Don’t overthink making cold brews, especially regarding added flavour.
At best, consumers will create copycat versions of Starbucks drinks that taste delicious and satisfying.
Use either Starbucks flavoured coffee or add flavoured syrup as described below.
- Irish cream cold brew
- Pumpkin cold brew
- Vanilla cold brew
- Peppermint cold brew
- Starbucks cold brew unsweetened – add no sugar or sweetener and use unflavored coffee to make the cold brew.
Below is a photo I took at Food Basics of 1.42L of Starbucks Iced Coffee for $8.49. You can make this at home for a fraction of the cost.

Cold Brew Coffee Maker and Glass Tumbler

On Facebook, many readers asked me where I purchased the 64 oz Country Line Kitchen Cold Brew Coffee Maker.
They also offer a 32 oz Country Line Kitchen Cold Brew Coffee Maker for a little less, but I’d go for the 64oz as it’s more bang for your buck.
It is a 64oz (2 quarts, 1.9 litre) heavy-duty mason jar pitcher with a stainless steel mesh filter and flip cap lid.
You can use it to filter coffee and tea to make cold brew at home, which is well worth the cost.
Please don’t fall prey to cheap versions of these cold brewing jars because you’ll only want to buy them once.
For this purchase, go for quality.
Also, on Amazon, for those who want to know about the ultra cool 50oz glass tumbler with lid and straw, glass water bottle with a handle, and silicone sleeve.
It’s perfect for at home or the office and is functional, which makes it perfect indoors or by the pool in the summer.
How To Make Salted Caramel Cold Brew
- Always use filtered, fresh water when making any cold brew coffee, especially for Starbucks quality.
- Add 2 cups of Starbucks caramel coffee or any other coffee grinds to the mesh filter.
- Set the filter into the mason jar.
- I boil filtered water in my kettle to 195 degrees before slowly pouring it into the cold brew stainless coffee filter.
- Complete this process slowly as the filter fills quickly and needs time to get through the coffee grinds.
- Once the mason jar is filled, put the lid on and place it in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours, depending on how dark you like it.
- It’s ready to use at 12 hours.

Nutrition and Tips
The amount of protein in our salted caramel cold brew proffee without whipped cream comes to 30g of protein, 2 cups of 0% Fairlife Milk, and 21g of protein (you can buy Fairlife at almost all grocery stores in Canada.)
The total protein is 51 grams. You can add or reduce the amount of protein you use.
Use any milk, salted caramel syrup, or coffee to make the cold brew proffee.
Homemade cold brew is good for about one week in the refrigerator.
Spread the used coffee grinds from your cold brew in the garden to add nutrients to the soil.
Thanks for checking out my recipe, and let me know if you make it and if you’ve made any modifications in the comments below.

Homemade Donuts Gone Wild
Everyone loves a good yeast donut and today we have this simple homemade donut that you can make at home and change up to add a variety of toppings and flavours for less than buying one at the donut shop.
Ingredients
- 4 teaspoons dry yeast
- 11/4 cups warm milk
- 1/4 cup extra-fine sugar (caster sugar)
- 60g melted butter
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup strawberry jam (or whatever filling you want)
- Vegetable oil for cooking (not fryer needed fill half of a heavy pan with oil instead)
- 1/2 cup extra fine sugar (caster sugar) this is for dusting
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon for mixing with sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Combine yeast, milk and sugar in a bowl and whisk until sugar and yeast have dissolved.
- Cover and let it stand in a warm place until frothy. Around 10mins
- Once yeast is ready in a big bowl whisk the butter and eggs into yeast mixture
- Sift flour into large bowl, stir in yeast mixture, mix to a soft dough then cover. I use my beater first then my dough hook to knead into a soft dough!
- Let stand in a warm place until mixture has doubled in size. (45mins)
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 mins or until it has become smooth and elastic, but still a bit sticky.
- Roll out to approx 1cm thick. Cut into 51/2 cm rounds using a cookie cutter.
- If you are making the jam donuts place a teaspoon of jam on one half of round and then place another on top pinching the edges together to seal.
- If you are making donut holes cut out middle using smallest cookie cutter or a donut cookie cutter with a hole in the middle.
- Place on a parchment paper covered tray and set aside for 10mins or until they have doubled in size.
- Bring your oil temp to 190 degrees C or 370F to 380F. If you have it too high they will burn or too low they will absorb too much oil.
- Deep fry donuts in batches (3 at a time was best) in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through.
- For the jam donuts, test by taking out and with a cocktail stick make sure it comes out clean with no dough on it. Drain on absorbent paper and toss in sugar.
- I made cinnamon sugar for my hole donuts and the holes themselves which looked like Timbits.
- See post for other donut variations.
