Finding ways to save money on groceries has become more important for Canadian households, especially as food prices continue to climb.
According to Statistics Canada, food purchased from stores was up 3.1% year-over-year in July 2026, continuing to outpace the overall inflation rate.
One place we sometimes find unexpected savings is Amazon Canada.
Most shoppers already know about Amazon coupons, Subscribe & Save, and Prime Day, but there is another section that can be much harder to find: Amazon Resale grocery deals.
Amazon Resale was previously known as Amazon Warehouse Deals and can include returned, open-box, or otherwise inspected merchandise that Amazon has determined is resalable.
What many Canadians may not realize is that Amazon Resale can also include groceries, snacks, protein bars, beverages, and other food-related products.
The problem?
Amazon has made the grocery section surprisingly difficult to find in the app.
I recently went searching for it again and discovered that the process had changed.
Below, I’ll show you exactly how to find Amazon Resale grocery deals in the Amazon Canada app, along with several other ways we use Amazon to save money on groceries.
Are Amazon Groceries Worth Buying?
Amazon is not automatically cheaper than a traditional grocery store.
That is important to understand before you start filling your cart.
We compare Amazon prices with grocery stores, warehouse clubs, discount stores, and grocery-saving apps before buying anything.
Sometimes Amazon wins.
Sometimes it doesn’t.
Amazon can be especially useful when you find:
- Amazon Resale grocery deals
- Coupons
- Subscribe & Save discounts
- Amazon Outlet products
- Limited-time deals
- Bulk packages
- Hard-to-find products
- Pantry staples at a lower unit price
The trick is knowing where to look.
Is Amazon Prime Worth It For Groceries?
You do not necessarily need Amazon Prime to buy groceries from Amazon Canada, although Prime members may receive additional shipping and other membership benefits.
Whether Prime is worth paying for depends on how much you use Amazon and the other services included with your membership.
We never recommend buying something simply because it is on Amazon.
The price still needs to make sense.
Always compare the final cost per unit with what you would normally pay locally.
1. Use Amazon Grocery Coupons
One of the easiest ways to save money on Amazon groceries is by checking for coupons.
Amazon frequently places digital coupons directly underneath qualifying products.
Depending on the item, you may see wording such as:
Save 10%
Save $2
Apply coupon
You normally need to select the coupon before adding the product to your cart.
Amazon coupons can disappear or change at any time, so I always double-check the price before completing an order.
A coupon does not automatically make something a good deal.
Compare the final price.
2. Check Amazon Subscribe & Save
Subscribe & Save can offer discounts when you schedule recurring deliveries of eligible products.
We have seen Subscribe & Save available on products such as:
- Coffee
- Protein bars
- Pantry products
- Cleaning products
- Personal care products
- Pet supplies
- Snacks
The biggest mistake you can make with Subscribe & Save is forgetting about your subscriptions.
Before each scheduled delivery, review your upcoming order.
Ask yourself:
- Do I still need this?
- Is the price still good?
- Can I buy it cheaper somewhere else?
If not, skip or cancel the delivery.
A subscription should save you money, not encourage you to buy products you no longer need.
3. Amazon Resale Grocery Deals
This is the section of Amazon that prompted me to update this article.
Amazon Resale grocery deals can be buried in the Amazon Canada app, and finding them isn’t as straightforward as you might expect
Previously known as Amazon Warehouse Deals, the program was renamed Amazon Resale Deals in late June 2024.
The change happened to market Used, Pre-Owned, and Open Box Products better on Amazon.
Products available through Amazon Resale may have been returned, opened, or have damaged packaging.
Amazon evaluates eligible returned products before reselling them.
Because these products can have different conditions, always read the listing carefully before buying.
The availability of Amazon Resale grocery deals also changes constantly.
Something you find today may be gone tomorrow.
How To Find Amazon Resale Grocery Deals In The Amazon Canada App
Here are the current steps I used in September 2026.
Step 1: Open The Amazon App Menu
Open the Amazon Canada app.
Tap the three horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2: Find Deals & Savings
Under Shop By Category, scroll until you see:
Deals & Savings
Tap the arrow to expand the section.
Step 3: Tap Amazon Resale
Inside Deals & Savings, look for:
Amazon Resale
Tap Amazon Resale.
Remember that Amazon Resale and Amazon Outlet are two different sections.
Step 4: Scroll Through Amazon Resale
Once the Amazon Resale page opens, scroll down.
You may see various categories and products before reaching the complete results.
Step 5: Tap See All Results
Continue scrolling until you find:
See All Results
Tap it.
Step 6: Open The Filters
Once the full Amazon Resale results appear, look for the filter icon near the top of the screen.
Tap the filter icon.
Step 7: Choose Categories
Inside the filter menu, select:
Categories
Step 8: Scroll Through The Categories
Amazon will display a long list of product categories.
Keep scrolling.
Step 9: Find Grocery & Gourmet Food
Look for:
Grocery & Gourmet Food
Select that category.
Step 10: Browse Amazon Resale Grocery Deals
You should now see Amazon Resale grocery deals currently available in Canada.
Depending on inventory, you might find:
- Protein bars
- Snacks
- Pantry products
- Beverages
- Packaged foods
- Baking products
- Health-oriented grocery products
Inventory changes quickly, so I check the section regularly.
What Should You Check Before Buying Amazon Resale Groceries?
Do not automatically buy something because you see a lower price.
Before purchasing Amazon Resale groceries, check:
- Product condition
- Packaging condition
- Quantity
- Size
- Price per unit
- Best-before information if provided
- Seller information
- Shipping costs
- Regular Amazon price
- Local grocery store price
I also look at how much money I am actually saving.
Saving $1 on something I don’t need is not saving money.
Amazon Resale Is NOT The Same As Amazon Outlet
This is an important distinction.
- Amazon Resale and Amazon Outlet are different.
- Amazon Resale may contain returned, opened-box, or inspected products being offered for resale.
- Amazon Outlet generally contains discounted overstock or clearance merchandise.
When you are searching for grocery deals, check both areas.
You never know where the better price might appear.
4. Amazon Outlet Grocery Deals
Amazon Outlet is another section worth browsing.
Outlet inventory changes frequently and may include products that Amazon is trying to clear out.
Depending on what is available, you could find:
- Pantry products
- Snacks
- Beverages
- Household products
- Personal care products
- Bulk packages
Like Amazon Resale grocery deals, Amazon Outlet prices should still be compared with your local stores.
Discounted does not always mean cheapest.
Best-Before Dates Vs Expiry Dates
When purchasing discounted food products, it is useful to understand the difference between a best-before date and an expiry date.
A best-before date generally refers to the freshness and quality of an unopened food product.
It does not automatically mean the food becomes unsafe the following day.
Expiry dates are different and apply to certain foods with specific nutritional requirements.
Always inspect the product and follow Canadian food-safety recommendations.
If something looks, smells, or tastes wrong, do not eat it simply because you paid money for it.
5. Check Amazon Today’s Deals
Amazon regularly runs limited-time promotions.
Prices can change quickly, so I occasionally browse Today’s Deals to see whether any grocery or household products we normally buy have been discounted.
However, I avoid browsing just for entertainment.
That can turn bargain hunting into unnecessary spending.
I prefer to search for products we already use.
6. Watch For Prime Day Grocery Deals
Prime Day can sometimes produce good grocery deals, especially on:
- Coffee
- Snacks
- Protein products
- Pantry staples
- Household products
- Personal care products
But Prime Day does not automatically mean the lowest price of the year.
I still compare prices before ordering.
Retailers know that shoppers expect deals during major sales events.
That makes price comparison even more important.
7. Check Amazon Grocery Deals Regularly
Amazon pricing can fluctuate frequently.
A product that seems expensive today could be discounted next week.
Amazon Resale grocery deals can also appear and disappear quickly because available quantities may be limited.
If you regularly buy a particular product, learn its normal price.
That way, you can recognize a genuine deal when you see one.
8. Compare Bulk Buying Prices
Buying a larger package can reduce the price per unit, but only if your household will actually use the product.
Before buying in bulk, calculate:
Total price ÷ number of units = price per unit
Then compare that number with the grocery store.
We use this strategy for products that we know our household will consume.
There is no savings in buying a huge quantity of something that eventually ends up in the garbage.
Don’t Rely On Old Amazon Prices
One thing I have learned from writing about grocery prices for years is that specific Amazon prices become outdated very quickly.
That is why I no longer recommend using an old price screenshot as proof that something is currently a good deal.
Instead, compare today’s Amazon price with today’s grocery store price.
Prices change.
Promotions change.
Inventory changes.
Coupons disappear.
Amazon Resale inventory can change even faster.
Compare Amazon With Canadian Grocery Stores
Amazon is only one tool in our grocery-saving toolbox.
We also compare prices using:
- Grocery flyers
- Loyalty points
- Clearance racks
- Flashfood
- Coupons
- Warehouse clubs
- Discount grocery stores
- Grocery apps
- Unit pricing
There is no single store that wins every week.
Shopping strategically means buying products where they offer the best value.
Follow Amazon Deal Communities
Canadian deal communities and social media groups can sometimes help you spot Amazon grocery deals before they disappear.
Just remember that someone else’s bargain may not be a bargain for your household.
Before buying, ask:
Would I have purchased this anyway?
If the answer is no, the discount may be costing you money rather than saving it.
Amazon.ca Rewards Mastercard
Amazon shoppers may also want to investigate the Amazon.ca Rewards Mastercard.
Rewards, bonuses, and card terms can change, so I recommend checking the current offer directly before applying.
Never carry credit card debt just to earn rewards.
Interest charges can wipe out the value of any cashback or points very quickly.
Cashback Websites
Cashback websites such as Rakuten may occasionally offer cashback opportunities connected with Amazon purchases.
Offers and eligible categories change frequently.
Always check the current terms before assuming your order qualifies.
I treat cashback as a bonus rather than a reason to buy something.
Can You Return Amazon Groceries?
Return eligibility can vary depending on the product.
Some grocery and food items may have different return restrictions than standard Amazon merchandise.
Always review the return information shown on the product listing before ordering.
This is especially important when buying Amazon Resale grocery deals because the product condition may differ from that of a standard new item.
Are Amazon Resale Grocery Deals Worth It?
They certainly can be.
We have found some excellent Amazon grocery discounts over the years.
However, I would never recommend assuming Amazon Resale is automatically cheaper.
The best strategy is to compare.
Look at:
- The Resale price
- The regular Amazon price
- Local grocery prices
- Unit price
- Product condition
- Quantity
- Whether you actually need the item
If everything checks out, Amazon Resale grocery deals can be another useful way to stretch your grocery budget.
Our Final Amazon Grocery Savings Tip
Do not become loyal to a retailer.
Become loyal to your budget.
Amazon, Walmart, Costco, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, Zehrs, and other retailers are competing for your grocery dollars.
Let them compete.
We use Amazon when the price makes sense and shop somewhere else when it doesn’t.
The addition of Amazon Resale grocery deals gives Canadian shoppers one more place to look for savings.
The hardest part may simply be finding the grocery section.
