THE BEST Low-Carb Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars (Almond Flour Crust) Sugar-Free

NOT JUST ANY KETO PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE THE BEST PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE BARS AROUND   Pumpkin cheesecake bars anyone? You won’t even know that it’s low-carb, sugar-free, gluten-free and very easy to make at home. The best part about this recipe is that you can turn it into a pumpkin cheesecake pie or a round cheesecake as it’s versatile and because sometimes I feel like slice of pie instead of a bar. The secret ingredient in this recipe is LOVE, haha no it’s the full-fat sour-cream which adds that moisture and tangy flavour that you want in a pumpkin pie. You will also find the very thin almond flour crust has a slight almond extract flavour which we adore but is optional.   Bake Keto at Home   I’ve read so many comments on social media from low-carb, keto foodies that they would rather buy their foods then make them. Honestly, it’ s dead easy to do and you will save yourself LOADS of money. Anything that says gluten-free, low-carb, keto and sugar-free will add a chunk to your grocery budget so don’t fear the kitchen. Any food blogger who doesn’t post at least one or two pumpkin recipes in the Fall […]

Simple Everything Crisp Bread (Keto, Low-Carb, Gluten-Free)

A LOW-CARB CRISPY BREAD THAT YOU CAN MAKE AT HOME   Yay, for Everything Crisp Bread my friends as this is the cracker bread snack you WILL want to make and it’s SO EASY. Best of all is that you can add your own flavours and you don’t have to enjoy a low-carb, keto diet to love them as much as I do. How cool is that? I like to compare this Crisp Bread to a Ryvita or Wasa bread if you are familiar with that brand from the grocery store but you can make it at home for far less. Keep in mind the texture and ingredients will differ but the crisp nature is what we were looking for as there are others out there that are similar but the crisp factor is missing. Everyone who leads a low-carb lifestyle knows what I’m talking about when they dream about something crispy to eat as it can be tough to create products that offer that satisfaction. The problem with gluten-free is that it lacks gluten which means your alternatives are nut-based for the most part which don’t offer much crisp at all. Mrs. CBB has craved crispy anything for years […]

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU HAVE TOO MANY ZUCCHINI? MAKE ZUCCHINI FRITTERS!   Italians take their food seriously so if you ever plan to deviate from a traditional recipe do it with caution. Depending on what region of Italy you are from you may call zucchini fritters a variety of names. Perhaps your Nonna, Nonno or parents have called them one of the following names below but at the end of the day, they all taste delicious and a must-try for any zucchini lover. Zucchini fritters are a staple in just about every Italian household and just about every Italian we know has a huge garden which means, lots of zucchini. The zucchini fritters take on many Italian names, Pitticelle Cucuzze or you might have heard Pah-TAL-ee, Frittelle di Zucchine, Pitticelle di Zucchine especially if your family is from Calabria. For those of you visiting the blog from the UK or other countries you may be searching for Italian Courgette Fritters and you’ve found them.   Zucchini vs. Zucchini Blossoms   If you are fortunate to have zucchini blossoms which are orange in colour and very fragile along with organic zucchini you can make authentic fritelle (fritters). For this […]

Blueberry Chocolate Chip Almond Cookies are thick, moist and perfect for dunking in your favourite drink. I am partial to a tall glass of cold milk with any cookies I eat. Every once in a while Mrs. CBB wants something sweet so we work on testing new recipes in our kitchen that are low-carb, sugar-free and gluten-free. Since she’s been eating a keto diet for the past 3 years I’ve become accustomed to being the test-it-husband because if she can get it past me she knows the recipe will be a hit. I was a bit hesitant about the blueberries and chocolate mix but not anymore because they turned out amazing which is why we are sharing the recipe. All recipes we create are tested and loved by us otherwise they don’t make the blog. When you are on a keto diet eating berries is about the only fruit you will get in your diet so adding blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries to your favourite sweets recipes are delicious. The […]

Summer Fresh Rhubarb Salad with Toasted Cashews

SALAD MAKING WITH THIS NEW WAY OF ENJOYING RHUBARB   Each year we have an abundance of rhubarb from our one plant that gives us 4 crops throughout the summer months. This season our new recipe is a colourful summer fresh rhubarb salad with fennel and other crisp vegetables topped with toasted cashews and tossed in a light sweet apple cider vinaigrette. YES, this salad is low-carb and perfect for the keto diet as rhubarb is low in carbs. Healthy salads are always part of our menu plan during the summer months so putting together salad combinations that are bright and unique with a homemade salad dressing always hits the spot. Summer salads in our kitchen almost always include a protein so pairing this gorgeous rhubarb salad with honey glazed BBQ’d Atlantic salmon was a hit. Mrs. CBB had a bit of her sugar-free syrup instead to keep the rhubarb salad and salmon dish keto friendly. Growing rhubarb has been an experience for Mrs. CBB and I only because she had never tried it before and I couldn’t believe how expensive it was to buy at the supermarket. Forget about buying organic as the price is even more pricier. What […]
